    Optimal Investor Layout

    Two weeks ago I posted my first go at an endgame Investor Layout for Anno 1800. I got some Input after that and here is my next iteration which reduced the number of houses not affected by the town halls from 14/15 to 11 while also decreasing the oil consumption by 33%.

    This time I tried to have perfect horizontal connectivity without the need for any extra space. (You can check the last tab of the spreadsheet for the old version).

    Main Concept

    The main concept involves two independent diamond shapes that intersect each other to cover needs: one for the town halls and one for electricity; since those buildings have different radii of influence.

    The radius of the town hall defines the basic size of a housing block which is organized in 5x2 groups consisting of six by two houses. To cover a single of those blocks you need three town halls but the more blocks you use the more efficient the layout becomes ultimately resulting in 1 town hall / block.

    The same idea applies to electricity. To cover a single block you obviously need 1 power plant but the bigger the layout gets fewer and fewer oil / house is needed.

    Even though the power plants have fixed positions in the layouts to cover edges of your island you can move them closer to one another as long as you don't change their vertical point in space (basically switch between the lines of housing).

    Support Buildings

    I chose not to include Banks since you can make your residents happy way more efficient via Town Hall Items but since there are areas of no town hall influence due to the nature of the system there are ideal spots for Members Club and/or Hospitals (Line 2 and 9).

    Furthermore, there are good spots to place Police Stations (Line 4 and 7) since you will most likely make heavy use of propaganda in the endgame and thus need lots of police.

    Lastly, notice the Trade Unions to cover the Power Plants for fewer oil consumption, reduced fire probability and/or workforce needed. Imo, no Power Plant should run without a trade union.

    Optimization

    Since Anno 1800 islands are not quadratic there are some easy optimizations possible that require little effort but cannot be shown in the layout itself. I made some screenshots with comments to highlight some of them:

    How to build up

    Start with a Marketplace & Pub in the Center of the block replacing 3x2 houses. Build a school at the spot where the Members Club should later be. Replace the Marketplace & Pub at Artisan-Level with a University. Replace the School for the Members Club at Investor-Level and cut the University. Move some Investor-buildings from adjacent block to fill the gaps.

    Using the Town Halls you can now skip a lot of production chains:

    • Brasserie Patron Mertens allows you to skip Sausages, Bread, Beer & Church
    • Actor allows you to skip Canned Food & Rum (requires you to build Variete Theatre)

    Like a lot of people I had a coffee problem. So I decided to get serious about a solution. Using just the 200 free farmers you get from the expansion influence bonus, so no local population at all, I have 91 farms, with 226 nodes, cranked to 265%, for an approximate yield of 325 unbuffed coffee farms. ~95k investors and climbing. ATM I am in oversupply. We will see how long that lasts for.

    Expediton Frequency Question

    Hi - I have a question about the frequency of expeditons spawning. Since the botanica dlc it seems like there's only 1 expediton available at a time and quite often there are none. Before this I used to see 3 available at the same time quite frequently. Has the latest patch affected how the expeditons spawn?

    Anno 1800 - Character elimination in campaign

    I eliminated an AI player in both old and new world, but the player still appears to be alive and around. I double checked both maps and settled every island, but can't find what's left of the AI to kill it off for good. Can I even kill off a character in compaign mode?

    Influence in anno 1800.. I am lost.

    I got to a point of the game where for some reason my influence dropped like a rock (I didn't start the war but I ended it by capturing some islands). And now i can't build ships or zoo modules, and I my current quest is to build some ships (in compaign)... Is there a way to quickly gain some influence that I'm not seeing?

    Quick question: if I increase the number of people living in a single house through town-hall items. 80 Investors for Ex.

    does this also increase the amount of resources they consume?

    Spice it up v2.6 "Botanica"

    Let's get straight into what has changed apart from the obvious necessary Compability Fix for Botanica.

    Just to say one thing in advance: Most of the new stuff is dependent on the Botanica DLC because there are quite big changes to the DLC content.

    Just a nice botanical Garden - All without rerolling the ornaments

    Fixes and Adjustments first:

    • Nate's Airship will now have a correct icon.
    • Cargostorage will now unlock properly.
    • Electrical Lighting for your streets will not shine at Daytime and will activate only at night which looks fantastic with the new lighting effects.
    • Clipping of the electrical lighting have been fixed.
    • Zoommod has been renamed to "Improved Lodlevels" because its not just a zoom extention but it also gives higher viewing distance and level of detail which comes at a significant performance cost.It's recommended to only use this if you have powerful enaugh hardware.
    • All Mods regarding Day and Nightcycle were removed because it's a Vanilla feature now.
    • Plaza street was slightly adjusted in color to match the new Plaza tiles.
    • Reduced Influence Cost is now influencing Botanic Garden as well, to bring it in line with zoo and museum you only get 10 free modules if you reduce influencecost.
    • Removed Influence Cost is now influencing Botanic Garden as well.

    Electric Streetlights will now react to the day and night cycle

    New Content:

    • You can now access the mapseeds from Patch 3 again if you want.
    • An Option has been added to add the commuter pier with artisans. (Thanks to MystiqueBee84)
    • Module Limits of Cultural Buildings can now be disabled.

    Now the Botanica Stuff - You will only be able to access these if you have "Botanica" DLC:

    • New Mod: Botanical Modules in Construction MenuAll Botanical Ornaments as well as the music pavilion have been added to the construction menu.

    • New Mod: Unlimited Botanic OrnamentsAll Botanical Ornaments can now be build without buildpermits.The questionable RNG-Dicerolling for Ornamental Build permits has been scrapped from the game.

    Some mods have been adjusted to function with the Botanical Garden.

    • The Module Placement in radius for zoo and museum will now be added to the botanical garden as well.
    • The Botanical Garden now will appear in the cultural Buildings menu if you have the "Construction Menu" mod activated.

    A small thing you can access with "Sunken Treasures":

    • Old Nate now offers you to craft Nice Scrap out of Scrap (5 Scrap = 1 Nice Scrap) and Special Scrap out of Scrap (again 5:1) to be able to go for the items you want and not those you get the scrap for.

    Last but not least:

    There is now a support for translations. All of the texts have been wrapped up together into one single file in order to make translating the mod easier.

    You need to have at least one of the translation mods activated.

    Right now, Translations for the following Languages are needed:

    • French
    • Russian
    • Spanish
    • Simplified Chinese
    • Traditional Chinese
    • Korean
    • Japanese
    • Polish
    • Italian

    Right now, activating these languages will show the english translation for the modded stuff.

    If you want to translate the mod, simply take the english or german translation, translate it into your language (not the stuff thats inside []) and make sure to contact me on Discord: https://discord.gg/YTQGDFK or sent it to me via pm.

    It will then be added to the next update.

    Speaking of the next update. Please forgive me to mod so much DLC dependent stuff, however I wanted to do these corrections on the Botanica DLC.

    But I promise you, the next Update will add something new for all players to enjoy and it will be more than Ornamentals.

    Save lost because no DLC

    I was playing a anno 1800 2 multiplayer game with a friend one week ago, both of us don't have any DLC. I somehow unlocked "Cape Trelawney" in an expedition, set a island with a few citizens, then saved the game and we left.

    Today, we wanted to play, but the save was locked because I didn't have the DLC. So my save is lost unless I buy Sunken Treasures ? If yes, F*ck you Ubisoft.

    Anyone encoutered this ?

    Extremely frustrating Anarchist follow mission

    In a previous version, the Anarchist quest that requires you to follow a ship would work as intended when right-clicking the ship. Your ship would follow automatically without entering the circle.

    Now it doesn't seem to work and I had to micro my ship for 15+ mins. Eventually I had to handle a fire in my city and I failed the quest.

    This is extremely frustrating and resulted in my first ragequit in this game.

    Can someone explained to me what the graphics setting 'Upscaling' is, and whether I should enable it?

    Hi guys, so I noticed in the graphics setting there is an option for Upscaling.. I don't really know what is it or whether it would even work seeing as I have a Nvidia graphics card, not an AMD one.

    What happens if I enable it? What is it for?
