    My Ditchwater Docks

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 03:50 AM PST

    My Ditchwater Docks

So I redesigned my docklands set up, not quite all the modules but I don't need all the repair cranes or piers and I need storage more so I put regular depots in too.

Moved the trading post to the back beach to make more room for the docklands stuff. I like the look of it but I don't like having it over there, but I couldn't make it work having the trading post and docklands wharf on the same beach.

    Item collections

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 10:29 AM PST

For Anno 1800 (campaign), what is better:

Start collecting items from archi, eli and kahina from the beginning or wait until later? Are items even worth it spending money on at the beginning stages of the game?

    Thank you.

    (Datamined) Guaranteed Expedition Event Items

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 04:06 AM PST

I had a look at the game files to see which items give guaranteed success (<IsFavorableOption> in game files) in expeditions.

There's 47 events which will highlight in blue and guarantee success (all listed in xls) given your expedition is equipped with the needed item (<Requirements> and given the required amount <Amount>).

Out of all expedition perks listed in item descriptions Male, Archaeologist, Polyglot, Military Ship and Jack of all Traits do nothing for guaranteeing success. This should help to narrow down the best item list for your expeditions.

With this information my mid-game expedition line up is (All items purchasable from Eli, Ketema and the Pirates. Items in bold go in ship slots):

Name Crafting Diplomacy Faith Force Hunting Medicine Naval Power Navigation Guaranteed Events # Perk
Cargo Ship 20 2 Steam Ship
    Schnapps 20 1 Ration
    Enbesan Fire Tamer 45 20 3 Zoologist
Mother of Pearls 20 40 5 Diver, Female
    Chief Superintendent Clifford 15 45 2 Police\)
    Former Corsair 35 1 Pirate
    Professor Razzaq 40 20 4 Anthropologist, Scholar\)
    Arch-Archbishop Archibald 40 20 1 Hypnotist
    Vice-Admiral\*) 45 20
    Sum 65 55 40 75 40 60 80 55

*Not a visible perk, just a group of items which guarantee success.

**There's 4 different items with the same expedition stats

Endgame with Extravaganza Steamer and access to Legendary items:

Name Crafting Diplomacy Faith Force Hunting Medicine Naval Power Navigation Guaranteed Events # Perk
Extravaganza Steamer 20 2 Steam Ship
    Schnapps 20 1 Ration
    Captain Moby 50 10 30 1 Zoologist
Angela "Meg" Iver 55 25 5 Diver, Female
    Sir CharlesRAfferty/Sgt. Nicolas Gabriel 25 55 2 Police
    Georgina Duffy 25 55 1 Pirate
    Loius P. Hecate 30 55 4 Anthropologist, Scholar
    Polyglot Scholar Rahim 50 30 1 Hypnotist
    Pope Lucius I/Saint d'Artois 30 50 1 Hypnotist
    Telemobiloscope 20 40
    Sum 85 105 80 80 70 100 65 115

I've ignored the dynamite options even though they guarantee 5 events because it only gives 10 Force (@50t), is consumed in the event (the dynamite items are consumed as well), and I have no need to make it on any of my islands.

Edit: Made text in table smaller, fixed typos in event numbers.

Anyone else running out of RAM?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 11:57 AM PST

Got all the DLC apart from the park packs or w/e.

The game is soaking up 13GB+, then if I load reddit or something it goes "AAAAAH" runs out of ram then everything crashes. (Did it while opening this up to talk about it infact.)

Wasn't getting this before, but now my empire is... large... it's happening an awful lot.

I'm also getting freezes etc - it's only been happening since the last DLC.

    EDIT:

Never seen a game max out my RAM to this level other than Cities skylines, which at least utilises my large page file properly.

    Late game sense struggle

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 02:54 AM PST

    Hi,

I want to ask you: what are you doing in your late game?
I feel kinda bored achieving the 10k investors and finishing the DLCs content. Researching all legendary items is not fun. Colonizing the all islands does not lead anywhere.

Personally I feel lack of challenge in the late game. I have over 250M and I can just 'buy' my opponents.
Playing against hard AI leads only to tough early game. Late is always the same. Wars are meh (attacking the islands are very costly, its much better to simply 'buy' the island).

    What I miss:
    - next level of inhabitants like investors -> aristocracy (there should be much more)
    - alternative way of upgrade the houses. For example engineers -> investors / politicians (new)?
    - new world /LOL/Passage upgraded to at least 4 classes.
    - much more complex resource needs for each class (farmers...) - some of them should be updated once the game goes on to the lategame. Like farmers needs tractors/steammachines
    - natural disasters / naval army invades / nice achievements with good account rewards (like pool of 20 monuments that are hard to build) or in-game rewards like for example: new random needs for engineers (like special fish or sushi) that are changing in the each game.
    - much more complex quests (or even chain quests)
    - new ships! Dedicated for some goods etc.

These ideas makes this game much more complex. After 40h of play I usually got everything achieved.
Simply playing against 3x hard AI is not funny. They just attack you and that's it.

    Define “defeat” circa 1800

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 06:25 AM PST

I just finished an attempted achievement run, where I set the game to win when reached 1 investor. I was playing vs Hugo, and I did not build any happiness for my people (no luxury goods anywhere, no public services, and no police), but upon victory I did not earn any achievements.

Thai is doubly disappointing because I also did this with only charter trades routes and I also did not get the Carter Company achievement either.

Anyone have any suggestions as to why I received none (but I did get an achievement in the same game for my first anarchy propaganda). Did my game just bug out?

    Thank you I'm advance!

For your information: If you max out the number of available doctors in a hospital, the icons clip outside of the UI a little.

More items for trade union, town hall and harbor mod?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 06:25 AM PST

Hello guys, i was wondering if there is a mod that makes the trade union, town hall and harbormaster office hold more items. Maybe it was not posible before, but with the new dlc that lets you re docklands port hold more items, maybe someone is able to extent that to the other buildings.

Looking for people to play with!

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 04:31 PM PST

Hey all! As the title says I'm looking for people to play with. I'm a pretty casual player, I don't strive for perfect efficiency and don't know every in and out of the game. But I played ~900 hours of 2070 and I'm approaching 100 hours on 1800.

I love the game but I think I would have a lot more fun playing with some people. If there's anyone out there that is looking for the same please feel free to PM me or just comment here and we can connect on Discord!

Hope everyone has a good one!

    Graphics settings with my setup

    Posted: 08 Mar 2021 11:09 PM PST

So basically I can't seem to find the proper graphics settings with my setup and wanted to ask you guys what you think works since I don't want to run everything on "low", but right now I am experiencing massiv framdrops and stuttering, which also isn't the nicest experience

I have recently upgraded my PC and have following relevant hardware:

    -Ryzen 7 5800X

-MSI RTX 3800 Gaming X Trio

    -32GB Ram (2x16GB 3600Mhz)

I don't need 100+ FPS for this game, but it would be nice to play it without taking these massive drops.

    Thanks in advance
