I wish the New World, Enbesa and the Arctic had more depth to them. Posted: 02 Apr 2021 09:56 AM PDT So, I came back to Anno 1800 after one and a half years of pause. I am essentially experiencing all the DLCs for the first time with a buddy in a coop game, and I really love all the content that's been added. But one thing that is a little bit off a missed opportunity imo, are Enbesa and the Arctic. I feel like for me, they have the same problem as the new world had and still has in the base game. They lack depth. They lack things to do. In the OW (and Cape Trelawney) there are 5 Population tiers, tons of Ornamental Items, a Palace, Docklands, (in case of the Cape) a Treasure hunting mechanic, Electricity that often times will completly revamp how your production is set up in the mid to late game, Commuter Piers so that I can have Island purely population or purely production focused, and probably some other stuff that I missed here. Not to mention the two OW DLCs still to be released. In the New World, Enbesa and Arctic we have 2 population tiers instead of 5, that are basically there to supply the old world, and some Ornaments. That's it. No Palace, Docklands, Electricity, and all the other fancy stuff the OW has. With the exception of the arctic, they don't even have monuments. And the airship hangar is severely less feature rich than the world fair. I don't know about you, but after having set up the production for the two tiers in each session, I basically only go back to produce more stuff for the old world. And for the arcitic, thats just the gas so it doesn't happen all that often. It's a little more for Enbesa thanks to the scholars, and a lot more for the NW thanks to coffee and rum, but it usually feels tedious to go back to the secondary sessions. I rarely build something for fun in the NW, Enbesa or Arctic. Which is a shame because I love the aesthetics of all three of them, and the added mechanics in Enbesa and the Arctic are super interesting. This was especially noticable in a coop game, as one of us usually handles the Old World, while the other one handles all the secondary sessions (that was me). I was basically finished with all three sessions while my coop partner was still busy in the old world. So, dear Anno devs, if you ever decide to do a Anno Season 4 Pass, here's my wishlist:
Some things that you might want to answer, that I realize are the case but I think my point still stands, especially in the mid to late game:
So, any thoughts? Any tips on how one could make the other regions more enjoyable? And although I had mods in my list there, if you have any mod recommendations that address these issues I definitely appreciate them. To whoever made it to the bottom of this way to long post, have a nice day :) [link] [comments]
Docklands + Trade Unions Really Turned My Game Upside Down! Posted: 01 Apr 2021 10:25 PM PDT So I love trade unions, always have and I have loved Docklands since I got it. But I haven't done a huge amount of really trying to optimize things. But over the last few days I have been trying to put all my Old World production (for engineers and investors items) onto one island. I have started slowly bringing things online and holy crap its insane. Because of my penny farthing hub, I don't need to mine iron or coal just import it with Docklands wharf using the free steam motors and advanced weapons I am getting. Also because I am using Steven MacLeod and the geologist guy and I getting all the pearls I need from my sand mines and almost all the gold I need, not to mention more than enough sand since all my mines are boosted with trade unions and the Docklands harbormasters office. I also don't need any brass since I am using the guy that makes the glasses maker use wood instead (and have a sweet little wood hub producing about 130t per minute) AND I still have a few mixed hubs and space. The only problem now is trying to sort our trade routes and get my head around how its all working now lol. It has almost worked too well I am getting myself all confused with what I need to do next. Extremely low mid-late game fps Posted: 01 Apr 2021 05:01 PM PDT Specs 4600g, 3060 Ti, 16GB ram, nvme 1TB ssd. New game, high settings way over 100fps on 2560x1440p. Mid to late game, 20-30 fps. I find this to be pretty unacceptable unless ubisoft wants us to play only the start of the game? Whats the point of the DLC's if you have to play 10fps? Ridiculous. [link] [comments]
Trying to complete Cultural Sets and I REALLY hate RNG! Posted: 01 Apr 2021 02:52 PM PDT I just spent a week of evenings collecting random bits from expeditions, quests and diving. Somewhere in there you realise your chances are pathetic to none of completing most sets and they've spent more time on the RNG machines then on thinking up some decent quests to do where you can get what you need at the end. If they were honest they'd put in a Wheel of Fortune or a Slot Machine and have done with it. Instead they make you spend hours gearing a boat, bashing buttons (more RNG) to get maps for a chance to land a Legendary temple, then you spend hours bashing even more RNG buttons at the trader. I just want to know how big the Museum / Zoo/ Gardens are going to be on each island and organise the towns so I can finish them. My weekend is going to be an OCD nightmare if I don't!
