Idea of closely integrating the Newspaper into the game world

    Posted: 14 Jan 2022 04:52 AM PST

Something that ever bothered me about Anno 1800 is the newspaper magically appearing out of thin air.
There should have been a structure where it gets printed at. Like if you dont build it or cant sustain the production input required then cannot utilize the newspaper at all.

    Any semi-original layout for CF?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 11:50 PM PST

I don't want something too wild, as I'm still not mastering all aspects of the game, but I would like to avoid the very large (5-6 wide) central alley going from the Trade Post toward the middle of the vast plain. Any suggestions?

The Artbook of Anno 1800 has some concepts I would have loved to see in game as alternative skins

The Artbook of Anno 1800 has some concepts I would have loved to see in game as alternative skins

This would have would have been an awesome skin for police stations that are inside bigger cities.

    https://preview.redd.it/e1rqu2tbbib81.png?width=1105&format=png&auto=webp&s=7dc7f32b21aaefdcc940fe151eda0e1bf47369e3

This is a concept for the "cityscape" in relation to engineer residences (the page before that shows one of the buildings we have in the game) but I think those two buildings would be perfect alternative skins for the hotels.

Also: I love the tram wagon, this is something that is really missing in the game in my opinion (but then again, no idea how that could be implemented in a reasonable way)

How I roleplay in Anno 1800

    Posted: 14 Jan 2022 09:14 AM PST

I love role-playing in Anno 1800 building cities according to the culture of the character I chose (thanks to vibrant cities and modding). How to do it, select a character and a flag that correspond to their profile in the lore (my version of the lore is extended to fill some gaps). I try to play in the way of the character (the wiki have good information about what they like and dislike). I also have different styles for different nations.

This lore is taken from the base game, and then expanded to give goals and meaning to some events or characters.

    The Lore :

Fifteen years ago, the World was dominated by three mighty Empires. The Empire of La Corona, The Empire of Romanovna and The Treylaunian Colonial Empire

(from the Kingdom of Treylauny). La Corona was the strongest but was late in industrialization, its authoritarian rule was making many enemies especially

in the New World. Rebel faction started many revolutions like in High Mountain and in the West with George Smith. The rebels called for support in the Kingdom

of Treylauny that had lost its colonies to La Corona at the start of the century.

La Corona called its ally the Empire of Romanovna. Named after its capital, this empire was founded two thousands years ago and conquered most of the southern sea.

La Corona itself was founded by the barbarians that colonized its western provinces. The empire had almost no industry, and had big economic problems. As the population

was starving and the army being defeated on the front. The population revolted and overthrow the Aetos dynasty. Many countries were born in the collapse like

The Enlightened Nation of Garovnia, The Kingdom of Norsaland, The Great Kabakstan Protectorate (following an invasion from the Great Eastern Empire), or the Great

Patriarchate (Theocracy ruling over the heart of the Empire and its capital). The Territories (Old World base game session) and Frankia were given after the Imperial

    defeat to Treylauny.

Treylauny was known as the Duchies of Northburgh and Langton before its Conquest by the frankish dukes of the d'Artois Dynasty. During the Renaissance, it became an

independent kingdom ruled by a small frankish minority. This situation continued until our days as the actual queen is her majesty Isabelle d'Artois. Fifteen years

ago, the Mad King Edouard was at the head of the nation during the battle of Cap Trelawney. The victory was mainly due to the technological backwardness of the

imperials (still mainly agrarian economies). Treylauny is very advanced technologically and is now the biggest world power.

After the Treaty of Monégasque (vassal principality of the Empire of La Corona), all the Imperial colonies were declared

    independent.

George Smith founded the Republic of Freedonia (after his slave rebellion), the slavers founded the United Colonies, and the treylaunian company Western United became

also very autonomous (it started with the fur trade, but now developed around mining operations, and oil extraction).

    The Factions :

    The Old World:

Admiral Vincente Silva, Chancellor of the Empire of La Corona. Authoritarian Monarchy (ruled by João king of Coroa and Kaizer of La Corona).

    [Iberic/Lusitanian, French/Frankish, German/Kaizerlandish, Italian/Florenan, Dutch/Neders,]

Archibal Blake, chancellor of the Kingdom of Treylauny. Free Monarchy (ruled by Queen Isabelle d'Artois). [Normans/Treylaunian]

Lady Margaret Hunt, Princess of Faeir. Authoritarian Monarchy (Vassal of the Kingdom of Treylauny under strong Pyrphorian influence). Authoritarian Monarchy.

    [Welsh/Faerish]

Alonso Graves, Leader of cult of Red Death (Rebel faction trying to overthrow the La Coronian monarchy). Totalitarian Theocracy. [Iberic/Lusitanian]

Dr Hugo Mercier, President of Frankia (was first sent to pacify the Frankish for the Treylaunian annexation, but instead lead the rebellion against the crown).

    Totalitarian Dictatorship. [French/Frankish].

Carl Leonard von Malching, President of the Kaizerland (rebel faction founded by the ex minister of industry trying to create an independent Kaizerland, and to make

the biggest industrial nation). Authoritarian Dictatorship. [Kaizerlandish]

Artur Gasparov, Great Architect of The Enlightened Nation of Garovnia. Totalitarian Dictatorship. [Russian/Nortlander]

Bente Jorgensen, Queen of Norsaland. Free Monarchy. [Orthodox Scandinavians/Norsa]

Princess Qing, Regent of the Great Protectorate of Kabakstan (Daughter and Vassal of the Great Eastern Emperors). Free Monarchy. [Russian/Nortlander]

    New World Factions:

Willie Wibblesock, CEO of the Western United Company (vassal of Treylauny). Company. [Cow Boy/Wild Westerners]

Beryl O'Mara, President of United Colonies (Independent La Coronian colonies that still practice slavery). Authoritarian Democracy/Oligarchy.

    [Antebellum South/Southern Westerners]

George Smith, President of the Republic of Freedonia (founded by a Slave rebellion). Free Democracy. [New England/Eastern Westerners]

    Other Factions:

Monégasque, principality, vassal of La Corona. [Monaco]

Vespucia, Democracy in the West. [USA]

The Empire of Embessa, rule by Emperor Ketema. [Ethiopia]

The Great Patriarchate, theocratic government, heir to Romanovna. [The Balkans]

The Empire of Romanovna, vanished empire. [Rome/Byzantines/ Orthodox Europe]

The Great Eastern Empire, the rulers, are the parents of princess Qing. [China]

The Bahir Sultanate, crumbling near eastern empire which was a rival of Romanovna. [Arabes]

How best to integrate the trading post with the docklands stuff?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 09:50 AM PST

I wish there was a way to detach the default trade post from the shoreline. I'm having a helluva time figuring out how best to put them together, because the trading post is required to be attached to the shoreline while the docklands stuff does not. Also with the docklands stuff being so large they end up blocking the default trade post.

How do you guys design around this? DO you just drag the default building off onto another beach where it lives with its own shame of being inferior? Is there a mod that lets me detach it?

    I must know.

Is it a mistake to make your skyscraper Engi instead of investors?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 11:57 PM PST

I'm trying to super min-max here but I'm wondering if it's better to simply accommodate the needs of engineers vs the need of investors.

I'm not hurting on money or influence so I'm wondering what's the draw back?

If anything can I simply level up a skyscraper to investors from engineers?

How would I go about creating a city built for mice?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 04:24 PM PST

What could I do to accomplish this? This exact thought was the reason I originally got the game. To be more specific, how would I build a "house" out of ornaments that would be large enough to fit a civilization of mice but also small enough for it to be to scale? Mice in this example would be about four inches tall, in case someone wants to use this measurement to calculate how to do this. I would really appreciate it.

    Six investor skyscraper variants?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 04:24 PM PST

Has anyone been able to construct the skyscraper shown under variant 1 on the wiki?

I've never seen the variant or it's non-skyscraper equivalent and have no idea what I'm missing. Any insight?

    Which DLC should i purchase?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 07:14 AM PST

    Short question.
Played Anno after it released and just came back recently. I was hooked immediately and played around 30 hours this week. Now i wanted to spice things up a bit and get some DLC's.

    1. Hope someone can give me a short overview which are the most important/fun ones.
    2. Are there any bundles how i can get multiple of them at once or do i need to purchase each individually? (I have Standard Edition right now)
    3. If i want to play with friends do all of them need the DLC or just the host?

    Thanks.

Just making sure my math is right? Plus question on Warehouses

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 11:49 AM PST

    Soap

According to the Wiki, Soap can fulfill the needs of 240 worker residences, netting 4 gold at low income setting, so one soap generates 960 money.

Eli buying it at 384 ... It means that until you saturate your workers with soap, you better not sell it to Eli?

    Warehouse

I have issues predicting in advance how many warehouses I need for a given production. Any pointer here? With 2 unloading bays, how much can a basic WH handles if only receiving products?

History collection vs individual history editions

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 03:30 PM PST

I already bought the individual history editions of all 4 games. Do they include the dlc? What's different from the Collection? Is the collection just a bundle of all 4 or is there any other difference? Thank you

Whos the crazy one? me or my wife?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 07:23 AM PST

My wife occasionally plays anno herself and we got into a debate on which is the better method for supplying construction materials.

Mine - Have 3-4 ships set on a trade route that go around delivering 1 stack of each construction material (planks, bricks, steel, limestone, windows, steam engines) to every colony. To start a new one I just grab one of the ships on that route and manually drive them to the new island. Then just add it to the list on the trade route. It takes a while to fill up but I'm never short on mats on any of my islands.

Hers - 3-4 ships that normally sit idle and just get loaded up to the gills when its new island construction time. This wastes less material just sitting around in the islands not being used.

So whos the crazy one? What method do you use?
