Royal Taxes - Found out about them the hard way :)

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 03:08 AM PST

Hello. I am new to Anno 1800. I wanted a fun and challenging city builder so I bought anno 1800 and have enjoyed it so far. I am playing the campaign on easy and have about 5k population on my "main" island. As I started to look at my balance sheet I noticed this royal tax. I searched the web, watched videos on youtube, and searched through reddit to learn more. I am going to keep playing and hopefully I will see this as a "challenge" but I am a bit taken a back by this feature and I hope it doesn't ruin my fun.

    Visual glitch/bug

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 04:32 AM PST

Hi there, I'm a lover of anno and I just got Anno 1800 and I have a question regarding a glitch in experiencing. I am experiencing a visual glitch where the foilage/grass/plants are not removed once a building/road/farm field is placed down and no building or road can erase the vegetation in many parts across my islands... An example below at the link, I built some paving for a xmas park and the grass still showed through it... Any fixes for this? Would be great if so! https://imgur.com/gallery/9hg6T2l

DirectX error after running cursed Benchmarks

DirectX error after running cursed Benchmarks

Hello, friends! I've been getting this sudden Direct X error that causes the game to crash, and it started only after I ran the Benchmark DX11 and DX12 thingies. Never ever had a crash before since like May. The game gets choppy with slooow FPS, and then eventually stops and crashes. May take 10 mins, or an hour into playing. The settings are mostly in High, Very High, DX12... but they were that way since the beginning, with good FPS and no issues!

I dunno if I had set the settings to DX11 or DX12, or if maybe the game switches to DX12 after running the benchmarks on its own, because DX12 had better FPS during the tests. I unistalled, downloaded the whole game again, and the same. I have all DLC except the Xmas decorations, 'cause when trying to buy, the credit card address only lets me choose United Kingdom! (I'm in US.) I think Kahina cursed me for not visiting so often recently...

Was running Spice It Up 2.6, now recently 2.7, with Mod Loader 0.7.3 (0.7.4 didn't let me boot up the game for some missing file).

    Please help :(

    Returning player question

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 01:53 AM PST

Merry Christmas dear fellow (anonymous) Annoholics,

just acquired season pass content, here comes my question: could I ship manpower from the old world to that cape falls city on the other map or does that only apply to islands on the same "continent"?

    Thanks in advance :)

Bought Anno 1800 in CIS Region in the Epic Store but language is only Russian

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 01:09 PM PST

    Hi,

I recently bought Anno 1800 in the Epic Store. I don't know if you know, but if you buy a game from Ubisoft and life in the CIS Region, you only will get the Russian localization. Usually it sucks. If you want to play a Ubisoft game in the much better English version, you would need to use a VPN and risk your account getting banned. The Epic Store now promised an international version of this game, which you can buy in the CIS region. They write on their store page:

    "Поддерживаемые языки

Звук: английский, французский, немецкий, русскийТекст: английский, французский, итальянский, немецкий, русский, "

    Translated:
    "Sound: English, French, German, Russian
Text: English, French, Italian, German, Russian, "

Exactely what I want and right now also with a huge discount because of the Epic Sale.

I bought it, linked it with my UPlay account and downloaded it through the Epic Launcher. When I started it, it only had the Russian and Chinese localization in the language options. I checked also the settings in the UPlay Launcher: The same.

Since then I am in contact with the support teams of both companies.

    The result:

Epic blames Ubisoft, and says it is their fault for not providing me with the full product I bought:

Kindly allow me to share that Epic games Store is only the Store of the title of the game, that means that we do not have control of the in game features of the game such as language, if you purchase the game on the Epic Store, the game is multi-language supported, you can check it on the Store page of Anno 1800.

Due to the fact that we only sell the title. My best recommendation still is that you contact the developer of the game, to manage the in'game language, but the game that we sell, it does support multi'language.

Ubisoft is blaming Epic for misleading me on ther store page:

I understand that you bought Anno 1800 and couldn't locate the English language.

I am sorry to learn that the information provided to you in the Epic Store did not match the package of game you have received.

Please kindly understand that Ubisoft is unable to manage retailers and digital store pages that are not our own store's.

We recommend that you contact Epic to report this situation so that they may correct the information they are providing to players.

    Great customer experience for me.

Anyways, long store short, does anyone have the same issue and maybe found a solution?

I get really tired of writing them back and force. At the moment, I want the English localization simply as a matter of principle, after I wrote so many emails.

How to set patrols without ships attacking enemy ports?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 02:12 PM PST

This has to be a bug...

I am trying to have a small group of gunboats patrol between the enemy's two islands, to hunt trade ships. I have taken extra care to put all patrol points as far as possible from any enemy ports, and to micro the route so that there's no reason for my ships to go in range of their guns.

But they keep trying to attack the enemy's main port! I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Why would six gunboats ever attack the enemy's port? Why? It's a pointless waste, and yet no matter what I try it's like moths to the bug zapper.

Are ships just 100% unusable in this game unless you ignore your islands and manually micro them anytime you want to use them for anything, or am I just missing something?
