    Idea for future minor Update

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 06:26 AM PST

I know that AI rebuilds itself and settles on new islands. But I think it would be great to be able to let new AI partners settle in the old world, when the other AI partners get destroyed. We have a smiliar cooldown timer for the pirates that lets them rebuild after being destroyed. Another Idea would be to let people sell their islands to AI partners (of course a cd timer needs to be in place for that or it could be misused as a money making exploit). This would set the Diplomatic relation to 50 and would spawn a harbor and a ship for the AI on that Island. Of course previously destroyed AI enemies could be spawned in through that again and would be set to Diplomatic realtion of 25 or even lower with a forced peace treaty for about 2 hours. I really like endless mode and normally I just let the AI live on a single small Island if I want to the bigger ones for myself. The problem with that is, that you need to conquer every other Island, which needs influence. With the ability to let them resettle in the old world, this would give you a solution to that.

I hope Anno 1800 gets a few more patches in 2020 as I really love this game.

    6 questions about 1800 multiplayer

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 02:23 AM PST

hey, two friends of mine and me have been enjoying Anno 1404 and 2070 in multiplayer for close to a decade now. We normally play us 3 against one CPU player and pirates on hard. With medium size islands and island resources on low, we like to be forced to improvise and trade. Somewhere in the middle we destroy the CPU+pirate and finish the game by reaching the highest population tier.

Now we are planning to play our first 1800 multiplayer round, neither of us ever played 1800 before. So we are excited to dive in, knowing nothing beforehand and learning the game together/cooperatively.

To pave the way for this experience, I did some minor research on the DLCs and some concerns arose.

    1. If I understand correctly, with all DLCs activated, we will have to jump between 4 worlds/maps (Main, New, BigMap and The Passage.) This sounds quite overwhelming or are the additional worlds introduced in later stages of the game. Like the underwater plateaus in 2070?
1.1 Would you recommend our first sessions with all DLCs activated?
1.2 What happens if the CPU takes the BigMap first?
    2. What CPU character would you recommend. We need someone with moderate difficulty who takes island ... so we are forced to keep up with his tempo.
2.1 Is the Anarchist good for this role, being from a DLC and all?
2.1 Are the pirates on hard difficulty manageable?
    3. In the previous games we would explore all islands with the starting ship to find the best island to settle on at the beginning. But now in 1800 it seems that in the main map every player has a predetermined and recommended starting island. Is there any reason not to start with a starting port, seeing that it'll be the best island anyway?
    4. Any other must have recommended world settings?
    5. Any other must-know things about 1800?

Thank you very much. It'll be awesome!

    Second Music Score

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 06:09 AM PST

I have constructed a second Zoo on one of my other islands. When placing the Music Amphitheater in the second Zoo I do not get the immediate Quest Gift of a music score for the Amphitheater.

How do I get another? I have been checking the NPC traders over a few hours of play but no one offers a score.

    Defeat AI with Arctic Islands

    Defeat AI with Arctic Islands

    Did anyone had this problem?

I thought I defeated the ai. Now she only has one island on the Arctic that I can't attack. And one Airship.

One solution is selling al the islands I conquered to have enough influence to buy her out seat by seat, but this can't be the real solution.

Best (and most cost effective) laptop for Anno 1800??

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 08:36 AM PST

Hi title says it all. Willing to spend a good amount without being ridiculous. I am also embarrassingly computer illiterate so if you could also explain to me like a toddler it would be much appreciated guys!

Edit: I'm in the UK so british prices would indeed be more helpful

Where can I find the benchmark option on the steam version of Anno 1800?

Losing my nuts here, my wife left me and I need to prove to her that the new video card makes a difference for this darn computer game.

    Will I enjoy Anno 1800?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 08:11 PM PST

Unfortunately, I was travelling when there was demo week in December. I could get UPlay+ but at current sale price I can get the entire game for 2 months of UPlay+ cost.

I guess the only building games I have played are Warhammer Total War, Frostpunk and Age of Wonders 4/Planetfall. I have 250+ hours in AoW 4 and been playing Frostpunk constantly for the past few weeks. Do you guys think Anno 1800 is something I would enjoy?

I could try out 1404 but the 1800 sale ends in a day and I don't want to miss it.

Treasure maps - they're supposed to be that vague?

Treasure maps - they're supposed to be that vague?

I just got my first treasure map. I open it up and see this:

    https://preview.redd.it/aawmh8o4wdd41.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69f170f9636ab98710512a2ccfae63ad2e426c26

Uh...is this normal? I get that figuring out treasure map shouldn't be too easy otherwise it's no fun....but this?

Do I get another piece later on? Because a) I can't barely see anything on this map and b) nothing on my Old World map doesn't even remotely resembles this grey smudge.
