| Anno 1800 has ruined previous games for me. Posted: 16 Feb 2020 03:56 AM PST I've been playing Anno since 1404, and have put a good 800 or so hours into it and its expansion. I then went back and played the older games and enjoyed them. Played quite a bit of 2070, skipped 2205 due to reviews and gameplay videos, picked up 1800 at release, but only played it a bit due to having a bad GPU at the time. Then a few weeks ago I got a good GPU and have subsequently put around 300 hours into 1800 and its DLCs. Having come to the point where I've finished 1800 (for now...) I decided to go back to 2070, and got all of perhaps 30 minutes into it before quitting. The lack of features, QoL stuff, UI, and overall design just don't satisfy any more. It's actually amazing how bad it is compared to 1800, which I feel is almost a perfect version of Anno. I then tried 1404 which up until 1800 was my clear favourite, and unfortunately again, I quit pretty soon into my game. I kind of feel bad, given how much love I had for these games, but I guess it just goes to show how good 1800 is. There's no real point to this post, just wanted to share with someone, and since none of my friends or family play this type of game, you people have to bear the burden :P [link] [comments] |
| Nexusmod not working - need help Posted: 16 Feb 2020 11:11 AM PST I found a few people enthusiastic about this mod. I decided to download it and try to install it. You are supposed replace 2 .dll files, so far so good. The, when I try to start the game it tells me that VCRUNTIME140_1.dll is missing and the application cant be started. This file is part of Microsoft visual C++ 2015 according to a post on pcrisk.com. They have a few ways to solve it, the main one being to install (in my case x64) MV C++ 2015. I downloaded it from MS and it cant be installrd because I have 2017 (newer version) already installed. Any ideas? Would love to use the mod but am not sure if I can just remove MV C++ 2017 to be able to install 2015 without screwing another game or even my OS up. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Help!! Need a MOD from this sub!! Posted: 15 Feb 2020 06:11 PM PST I was one of the winners in the recent 20,000 Anno subreddit subscribers giveaway. I won a base copy of Anno 1800. The keys you gave us are not valid in the United States.... I'm being told Ubisoft will not resolve the situation without either the mods doing something, or me producing a receipt corresponding to the game code I was given. The customer support rep even told me the code was valid, but only for the EMEA region. I can provide pictures of the exchange I had with them. Help! This sucks so bad! I was so happy to actually win something for a change, but now this is just wholly disappointing!!! [link] [comments] |

Recently though, wanted to go back to the world of strategy games (I was playing goodgame empire 5-6 years ago), and I bought CK2, which I found tremendously boring. The awful AI, along with the fact that the game is only a sandboxe, madr me quit the game. Now, a few days back my eye dropped at anno, and the whole building and military creation reminded me when I was playing GGE. So my question is the following; acknowledging the fact that anno 1800 is single player, does the game has an actual purpose, or it's just another sandboxe where the purpose is only to experiment and building thousands of islands to full grown cities ?
