It's amazing how delightful this game can be

So do people abandon the Old World entirely for Cape Trelawny?

I’m new to this. What to expect?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 11:18 AM PST

Wow I have a question, I have been researching this game for some time before getting it. I roughly played a couple of days but then I was in school during finals and such so , for the sake of good things I had to stop. You all, of course, understand. This was anno1400 sth like that.

Now, I wanna get this one but, I didn't play much and I still don't know how the game works. I'm looking for a game like the old age of empires, empire earth, the crusaders, etc. My question is, are there battles in this game? I couldn't find YouTube videos that showed more than a battle of some ships. Is there cavalry? Or infantry?

I can appreciate the game with no battles, and be more of a political campaign. I just wanna know what to expect.

    Thank you.

    Endgame "weirdness" (Anno 1800)

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 09:48 AM PST

I've played a lot of basically all previous Anno's and by the time you go big on population at the end you need tons of everything. The low tier stuff in 2070 I needed to fill whole islands with them. Demand never dropped when you upgraded houses. It added new demands, but 1800 removes demand once you upgrade. I got Crown Falls about half way full with only Invenstors and my entire empire runs on less than 10 snapps, bakers, sausage etc. I find it really weird that I don't have to build more to keep them happy. Its really weird to me, anyone agree?

Good Books to Read based in 1800s, early 1900s, and industrial revolution

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 07:02 PM PST

I thought I would mention some books here that I have been inspired by ANNO 1800 to read that were based in the 1800s and early 1900s during the industrial revolution.

    -The Jungle by Upton Sinclair

    -Moby Dick by Herman Melville

-Into the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick

    -Oil! By Upton Sinclair

-The Field of Ice by Jules Verne (very much passage vibe, my favorite so far)

-Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne

-20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne

-The Pearl by John Steinbeck ( this is next on my list)

Do you have a suggestion? I would love to have more to read that are tied to this time period of exploration and industrial evolution. Also, I think anyone ppaying Anno 1800 would also enjoy these books aa well.

Chance of fire 140% - LOL (Anno 1800)

Can you even negate that kind of risk with just fire stations? How could you tell how many you need?
