Killing lategame NPCs in Anno 1800

    Posted: 23 Feb 2020 10:49 AM PST

Is there a viable tactic to killing NPC in the lategame when they have some airships? It basically turns into a whack-a-mole, following their airships around, which have resources to settle an island even though I already destroyed about 30 islands (I'm guessing they cheat these resources in). Combined with 30 minute peace period on island after I conquer it makes finishing off a lategame NPC with 4 airships an absolute nightmare.

I was sailing around with battlecruisers for (no kidding) 4 hours straight, conquering islands nonstop. It took all stars to align to conquer their last island just seconds before they would settle another island and prolonging this torture.

    Pls send help and aspirin.

How long do you spend on a game/campaign? (Anno 1800)

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:46 PM PST

I'm new to Anno, but man did I catch the itch for it. I got 1800 last week and have already dumped around 40 hours into it. I'm coming from playing Civ and Total War games, so I had more of a strategic perspective (rather than logistical perspective) when starting my first campaign. The learning curve is definitely steep but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it.

However, sometimes I feel like I'm self-inducing pressure to expand or build. I don't really know what timeframe there is before the other players might snowball past me. I'm playing the story and Beryl seems like the obvious competitor, while the others seem fairly slow to build.

I ruined my first story mode by buying all the shares out on one of Beryl's islands before I had enough income to sustain the final buyout (had no clue the cost was so high). We ended up trading share buyouts and I was just dumping too much cash into it so I started over.

Just wondering, how much time do you typically spend on a particular save? Also please no spoilers I haven't finished the story yet (I'm about 70% through according to Uplay) :)

Have the devs made changes to the economy in the last few months?

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 02:20 PM PST

I picked up Anno 1800 as soon as it came out and I've been playing it off and on ever since.

I've started playing again recently after the new update and I've been really struggling with maintaining a positive net balance once I get to engineers without using propaganda. Even then it seems a lot lower than I remember. I thought I could remember having + $1000 - $2000 easily while also have a pretty large navy on medium economy setting without using propaganda as long as I kept all the and happiness in check.

Now, when I get to engineers, I try and fullfill a need and I go into negative balance or barely into positive because of the upkeep costs.

I'm not over producing too much and my navy isn't huge or anything because I can't afford it. I just don't remember struggling this much to make passive income.

Am I just misremembering or have the devs made some changes to upkeep costs or something?

[Anno 1800] Issue with completing World Fair Exhibition

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 07:03 PM PST

Anyone having issues with the world fair not completing the exhibitions? It is receiving goods from a nearby warehouse but it never completes one of the goods e.g. fried plantains stuck at 75/80. the cart keeps transporting 5 fried plantains from the warehouse, delivers successfully but the count doesnt increase
