Anno Choo Choo

I basically never play Anno alone. Always with a friend of mine and the LR40 Desnyc bug is usually the reason why we have to start over. Now we are probably on our best run we had so far. Sadly the error came back and ended our session 2 times in half an hour.

Now I knowthere is probably no "do this answer" and I just hope Devs to see it or for the tiniest chance someone can help, cause it feels really shitty to have to throw away 15 hours of work just because of a bug.

Advice for a new player; Income, Royal Taxes and Population distribution.

Hi All,

Naturally cause of the whole coronavirus pandemic - I'm stuck at home and I've been rediscovering my love of historical themed strategy games and city builders; CivCity Rome, Stronghold Legends + 2 to name a couple. I thought I'd pick up Anno as it's similar to the Caesar series which I enjoyed a lot.

My questions are this;

1) What are the best ways to gain some guaranteeing income in the early/mid game? As far as I can tell it is;

Mass producing soap (a relatively early resource) and selling to Eli Breakworth.
Acquiring an early share.
Keeping on top of upgrades for your citizen's houses so they provide more income, as well as providing luxuries (like beer) where possible

2) What is the best way to avoid Royal Taxes?

Royal Taxes seems to be a sort of bottleneck mechanic in order to force people to advance up - rather than sticking at one tier. It's also a way to suck money out of players rather than making the game too easy to acquire money, sort of like the deposit/auction house cut from World of Warcraft - it's a way to take some money out of the player's pocket.

I often find that I don't have enough population to transition into Artisans from Workers. Especially when certain buildings require 100+ of a specific citizen to work said buildings (like 200 workers for steel works). I often find that Royal Taxes are massively building up from the workers segment and that I often find that to be one of the biggest drains on my income.

3) How do I efficiently provide a good population distribution? Am I just not building enough farmer's residences to begin with? Is it better to just always build lots of farmer's residences and work from there?

and I suppose a final question would be;

4) How do I prevent 'overproducing'. I mean, when I am trying to do point 3 - i.e. create a crap tonne of farmers/workers to turn into artisans or further, I often find that In order to keep basic needs met (fish, clothes, sausages), I begin to lose supply of said items as I try expand into Artisans. Then i plonk another few slaughter houses/pig farms, then a sheep farm and a knitters' workshop - and the problem repeats itself. I often find myself sort of 'stuck' in the first 2 years.

Seat of Power not added to a new games.

Got the DLC checked and it just doesn't add it to the game.

Started 10 new games just to make sure. I start a new game with the Seat of Power DLC selected and it does NOT add it to the game.

Transmute bug?

Since the latest patch I'm unable to transmute on a new game. The game just takes my items and never gives me my transmuted item. I have tried it over a dozen times now and the same issue persists.

Hello, im thinking to buy DLC's of this game. I pretty enjoy to play it but I have many questions cuz i'm very budget person. I have anno1880 the "cheapest" version(my friend gifted for me), is it really worth to buy dlc's and what's good in them, whats new, what should i expect? is it really worth? I heard mixed opinions so, it's rly difficult to decide.

[Anno 1800] When at war, is there a way to take over a competitor's island where they have only small trading post and no defences?

I've tried searching everywhere, but couldn't find any answer and the game sure isn't going to inform me about anything like that. When at war with someone, if I defeat their defended harbor, I can takeover their island instantly, but they have couple of islands with no defences and just that damn trading post, and all I can do is slowly buy it share by share, which just seems silly.

Is there a way to take it instantly just like the one which has defences? (Which in itself is silly, I can't seem to find a way to instantly take over a place that has no defences, where if I defeat defences in other place, I take over it immediatelly.)

// Never mind, I've figured it out - under the name of the island, there is a little timer which tells you that it's under temporary ceasefire and when it runs out, then you can take it over.

I’m not earning much money in early game, what Am’I doing wrong?

I have in total 3 islands (2 in old world, 1 in new world), and reached artisans with all needs and wants satisfied, yet I only earn an amount between 130-500, how can I earn more?

Getting Printing Press w/o Anarchist

Ressource Scarcity not affecting new world.

Achieve crazy cashflows (+300k)

Hello guys,

I've been making the most out of Anno during this social distancing experiment and I noticed some people here or YouTubers have CRAZY cashflows... Like +300k and over 300M in capital...

How do you get such numbers ? I have my first investors and my cashflows stagnates around 6-12k... I sold my 10ish battlecruisers to get my cashflow 24k but I want to keep a big fleet...

I feel my maintenance costs are quite high... Around 45-50k for 33k inhabitants. Same goes for royal taxes. Around 8k.

Do you have any tips to effectively reduce this? What do I do wrong?

Many late game questions...

Hi reddit, I have some questions about late game buildings mostly.

Do you have to place the World Fair in the city? Does it have a direct effect on residences in range? I remember it giving a distance highlight when placed on a road, but that seems to have disappeared. Lastly, can this be built on every island, or is there a limitation?
Can you build the new Palace building more than once? I see it has proximity limitation in the dev blog post and connects to the road network, but does it effect residences or production buildings?

This is all in relation to city design.

Mod Question/Help

A while back I found a mod that turned the quay walls into functional roads, the mod would also allow buildings which were touching each other to pass items to the harbor warehouse or to a road warehouse.

I need help finding that mod.
