My idea for a period accurate, suitably grand Anno 1800 monument: the Grand Arcade

Have you ever wondered what, exactly, your investors do all day when they aren't ogling at the latest discovery at the World's Fair? I think by indulging themselves! But besides a bank, surely they throw their money at other things in their free time?

To give you a first taste, take a look at this picture. https://imgur.com/7Rsm4xq

What you're seeing is the Galleria Vittorio Emaneulle II, Italy's oldest active shopping mall in Milan. It was designed in 1861 and completed circa 1877. The Europeans on this subreddit are certainly more familiar with this concept than most of my fellow Americans likely are, but essentially they are indoor/covered streets designed with pedestrian traffic in mind. The Galleria Vittorio especially is a tourism magnet.

Arcades of this type were a particular architectural craze going on around during the 1800s (and even before that according to the wikipedia page, which will explain most of the history better than I could https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcade_(architecture)) For example, here's the relatively small Leadenhall Market in London, dating back to the 14th century https://imgur.com/nnrC8rO

Imagine walking through this kind of space in-game with some, uh, hypothetical first person mode! These weren't just a couple buildings stuck together, they feel like entire districts! https://imgur.com/tQWa0eU

Perhaps it is a building which has slots for a new, unique specialist called a vendor, who could give you certain bonuses whenever you have excess of a particular luxury resource on the island.

Here's a more modern arcade, from Cleveland Ohio https://imgur.com/9zK1taa

One of the most interesting elements of this kind of building could be a modular design. Why stop at something cruciform-shaped like the Galleria Vittorio? Why build one fixed structure if you had a few different angled, straight, connector, and end shaped pieces, just like the Palace, and assemble whatever your empire can support? Something like this could give players trying to raise attractiveness and income on their islands a way to spend their time in the end-game, when things might feel like they are starting to slow down. This could also be another large structure to dominate a portion of Crown Falls. I love the Palace, World's Fair, and culture module buildings like the Zoo, Museum and Botanical Gardens, but another megastructure would be a fun addition to keep the gameplay loop lasting longer before you think about starting a new game.

And make your capital look absolutely breathtaking, of course
