    [Anno 1800] Matchmaking/Servers down/unavailable?

    [Anno 1800] Matchmaking/Servers down/unavailable?

I was expecting to see a thread already here on reddit, or on their forums, or on twitter, but cannot see anything.

I have been regularly playing a co-op Anno 1800 game with someone, but today neither of us can load ANY multiplayer games, and the ingame matchmaking status gives 'unavailable'.

Obviously 2 entirely different people with no setup/connectivity issues on our end as we continuously have been playing our current coop game and the ones before over the course of the past weeks and years.

Anyone notice this or knows what's going on?

    Anno1800 Game Update 11.1

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 11:52 AM PDT

I know that the almighty beings that get the Mod Loader working for new patches are hard at work when an update comes out, so do not take this as a dig at them.

However, the last update I saw was from October 2020 and with the new update, mods are not working. Is there a way to get notifications or to know when the new .dll files are released? Or someone to follow?

Thank you for helping if you can!

    Anyone tested FidelityFX yet?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 03:05 AM PDT

Anno 1800 supports AMD's Fidelity FX Super Scaling for better performance with nearly non visual downgrade, anyone tested it on Nvidia cards? Can you show the image comparison with and without FidelityFX and how much FPS you gained ?

Change of way AI is expected to work to be less annoying

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 09:29 AM PDT

I was playin DaysGone recently (its related to anno just wait) and early in the game i was avoiding the hordes of zombies with anixiety and fear i've never seen in any other game, later with progressions I started hunting them.

So i completed the game and started a new campaing with Anno. Selected 3 Hard AIs, less fertility, less income and less influence. They were annoying early game and then I destroyed them late game with DLC boost cheating. The whole time I was getting annoyed at them for destroying my trading fleed and thus my population's needs, so i was thinking of a rework on the AI mechanic.

So my idea is instead of having to start the same as the AI, then progress and later use filthy cheats against us, why not make the AI fully developed like Brightsands?

Like when you select 3 star AI, let it have a fully developed island and trading paths with their own theme in development, maybe create a several versions for each AI opponent so its different every new game, make them have supply islands and other sessions islands with fertility and mines the player needs later on. So early game you either play fearful or try and get on their good side by doing quests for them, just like the pirates but more expansive and actually having to take over their islands if you want to get the complete world for production.

For me personally, when I start on the same level as the AI and then i see them having investors without any island on the new world, while i try to figure out a production chain so i dont get bankrupt is really detaching me from the game. But with this idea they will already have everything figured out and cheating will not be as game breaking.

For casual players there can be an AI with simpler (small) islands more on the beauty building side with rewards like gardens and museum stuff, while advanced AI will give you weapons and ships that are more advanced than the regular ones, so the hardcore fun is very rewarding.

The pirates are almost what I imagine as the core AI mechanic, but defeating them gives no real reward and they come back after a few hours, but i guess killing pirates in real life wouldn't be much of a reward, except for safety of trading fleet.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the cheating AI, but kinda accepting it as a core gameplay, which from my point of view, a broken mechanic should not be accepted, and needs to be reworked. I guess its too late for 1800 (maybe with mods) but for future anno AI should either be done right (no cheating and having the same challenge as the player) or bluebyte should try and explore a new way to improve upon the AI opponents with player feedback.

How to proceed mid-game with heavy industry - Strategy

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 05:50 AM PDT

    Hi all.

I am mid-game in Anno 1800 now and present in all the worlds (OW, NW, CT, ARC, ENB).

I have many islands each with its own small production chains of required materials. My main focus in this question is about heavy industry, so steel, zinc, copper etc.

    What is a better strategy?

    • Have a central industry island (i.e. hub) in each world?
    1. Benefits are high attractiveness for most islands, and cheaper maybe. Of course there are disadvantages too.
    • Have industry wide spread on all islands? And ship final products around to where it is needed
    1. That would lower the attractiveness of islands, but may be easier to manage.

    Thank you.
