Shoutout to the author of the North Star Mod

Something I've long been waiting for recently appeared on Nexusmods. A Statue of Liberty mod called the North Star. I've checked it out and it seems to be working great now in v1.2.

It's of great quality and I can only recommend it! Gets unlocked at 1000 Engineers and can be build only in the old world. Fits perfectly in a Crown Falls investor harbor.

Anno 2070 rendered unplayable due to having to login to Ubisoft Connect

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 09:26 AM PDT

So 2 days ago I wanted to play some Anno 2070 and continue my savegame I was playing on with a buddy of mine when I was greeted by the Ubisoft Connect login prompt.

Ok, type in my password, hit enter, and...

A Ubisoft service is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

Funnily enough, when I enter a wrong password, the error changes to

The password you've entered is incorrect. Please try again.

So the service is available, or what's up? I contacted Ubisoft support on day two, did everything they suggested (which was all client side stuff, which is weird because my buddy has the exact same error)

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there any workaround or do I just have to wait and hope Ubisoft fixes this?

Is it true you can play your old 1404 saves with the history edition?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 01:57 AM PDT

    Hey!

Few days ago I wanted to dive in back to anno after 3 years or so into my old mammoth save only to find out the servers shut down and I have nothing left.

I then posted on the steam community(didn't know about the shutdown yet)and was told that if I buy the new 1404-History Edition, I can log in into my profile and play my old saves again.

    Is this true?

Save game viewer or structure breakdown?

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 08:42 AM PDT

Is there an updated save game viewer or a breakdown of the save game structure available somewhere?

The game has a wealth of data stored, especially towards the end-game with multiple sessions, trade routes, etc. I want to extract the data and build some pseudo-real time analytics on top, if possible. I know a lot of information is available via Ctrl-Q but this is just for experimenting (and practicing python that I am learning)

Fighting the royal tax and building an endgame fleet.

    Posted: 21 Jul 2021 04:34 PM PDT

I'm not sure if this has been asked/suggested before but I would love to see the ability to do more with the tax system.

Currently there is no real reason to build a strong endgame fleet with upgrades due to a lack of opponents with that strenght that you can battle head on.

Currently there also is nothing really connected to the royal tax.

Why not add a function where you can refuse to pay taxes but doing so summons the Royal Navy, a huge and powerful force that you can fight and upon winning royal tax is lifted for X time until the navy returns to threaten you where you can either fight them again or submit and pay taxes again.

I'm stuck for hours on this quest. I suspect it's bugged. Is there a cheat code or command I can run to pass it?

Ubisoft Connect can't see network drive when running as administrator

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 02:45 AM PDT

    Hi folks,

In re-doing my setup I have run into a weird issue with Ubisoft Connect that's preventing me from playing Anno. Basically, as the titel says, Ubisoft Connect can't see my network drive when running as administrator - just gives me an error code 17013, it's super weird, and was not an issue when I initially started to play Anno shortly after release.

But I can't be the only one having had this issue, and google is not very helpfull in this regard. It seems like a bug with newer versions of Ubisoft Connect, but somebody might know of some kind of workaround.
