    Anno RTX 3090 Died

    RTX 3090 Died

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 05:53 AM PDT

With all the recent chatter about the recent Amazon web studios killing RTX 3090 cards, I wanted to share that my RTX 3090 died while playing Anno 1800. I have an EVGA FTW3 OC card.

About a month ago while I was playing Anno 1800, my monitor stopped receiving a signal and the GPU fans went to max. Hard restart to fix the issue. I was concerned but was otherwise monitoring temps like I usually do. I have not otherwise altered the card's clocks or voltage either.

Fast forward a month, during which time I played all sorts of other games, Battlefield, Hell Let Loose, you name it, no issues. Two days ago I decided to play Anno 1800. After about 30-60 minutes, screen goes black and the fans go to max. Jesus Christ. Hard restart again, only this time the card is dead. No video signal out at all. F to pay respects.

No idea what happened, but if I had a thermal issue I'm curious why Anno 1800 was the culprit both times. For those wondering, I cap my frames at 142 FPS to force gsync on my 1440P monitor.

Not in any way ideal, but it makes me wonder if all the headlines about the Amazon web studios game is indicative of a different issue, or at least of certain types of games. EVGA will take care of me and fortunately I'm going to be away from my rig for a week while I RMA the card.

Thanks for reading! Love to know your thoughts or your own experiences.

Games like Anno but easier ?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 08:17 AM PDT

Does anyone know any city builder games that are like anno but easier ? (think Anno 2205) I'm not interested in the RTS aspect of anno in the games, I just want a simple city builder that won't require me to micromanage 500 things at once to get anywhere

Money Balance goes Crazy Whenever I'm at War

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 01:45 AM PDT

I've been pretty slow at this game, and I'm having a really hard time getting hold of how to play it. I've gotten resource management down, kinda (Every Island has specialties and they make products en masse for me) so I am managing.

But all goes to crap when I go to war. Suddenly and for no reason my Balance goes from being positive to negative. I end up disabling random things to keep me from getting a game over. Why is that? Am I doing something wrong?

    Old Player Returning and wow!

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 02:27 PM PDT

Well when I say "old" I mean someone who played the game about a year ago and finished Land of Lions and had a large scholar population.

Then I moved on to other things.

A week ago I got the season 3 pass and just....wow. I forget how much depth there is to the game and now with the docklands there is even more to consider and plan. I just unlocked the tourists and don't even know where to begin.

I feel like starting over (which i already did once before) to organize things better!

I suppose like many of you part of the challenge to Anno is building efficient production systems, keeping your empire profitable and continuing to unlock and build up.

A few things I like to ask for feedback.

    1. Specialists. How do you go about acquiring them? What I mean is do you bother getting cheap, low power ones or save for the more impactful ones?
    2. With all the regions now, do you unlock them all or wait till you build up? Do you rush to Cape Trelawney.
    3. How do you all use Docklands? I guess you can't really make money from it, but it helps supplement items you are short? I'm still trying to learn how to use this efficiently.

Great game, glad to be back in it.

    Game freezes randomly

    Posted: 22 Jul 2021 01:56 PM PDT

My game sometimes randomly freezes and I don't know why-. I'm pretty certain I have all the recommended requirements to run the game. Anyone knows some fix to this or something that might be useful?
