    How to calculate costs for a production chain?

    I just got into Anno 1800 (1404 is still my favorite) and am still learning my way around. I don't like war, and I build for beauty with easy AIs. Not very interested in min-maxing but I would like to turn a profit! I have a couple of questions:

    • Is there an in-game way to see how profitable/loss making each production chain is? For ex: I build 2 clothing chains on one island, how do I know if those chains are producing just enough to be profitable or I'm overproducing and don't have enough people for 2 chains?
    • I often notice my income fluctuating from +300 to -100 all of a sudden. My population has not changed (as far as I know). Is it because I run out of goods?
    • I loved using the calculator for 1404 to figure out how many chains I needed. Are there any good calculators for 1800 that are not overwhelming? Again if there is an in-game way to check this, I would love to find out!

    [1800] I feel horribly slow at playing this game. Everytime I check how the AI is doing I am 12 steps behind them.

    My economy is solid, my routes are secured, all the needs and wishes of my inhabitants are properly fulfilled and no chain of production needs an upgrade so far. Welp, it's time to upgrade for my first artisan... and bam, there we go.

    Okay, let's check how the Chinese princess is faring... yeah, she's got engineers, investors and electricity.

    Just what am I doing wrong? Nothing in terms of production chains and people's happiness clearly. But maybe I'm just... overly concerned with having every single gauge filled up?

    Should I wing it more overall and go on further even though all luxury good is not available yet? Should I keep doing what I do but just somehow do it faster? Any ideas on how to progress through the ranks faster?

    Specs/Settings Advice

    I just got a new monitor and it's a lot bigger than my old one, (Acer Mitro VG270 Pbiip 27" Full HD 1920x1080 1ms 144Hz.) and Anno 1800 runs quite a bit worse now. The UI reacts kind of slowly...

    Any recommendations of settings I should try? There are SO MANY options... The ONLY thing that has changed is the new monitor. The PC worked perfectly at I think 2nd to highest graphic settings before.
