Anno 1800 Crashing Repeatedly with "Present Failed" Error

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 07:33 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm new to Anno 1800. I bought the game a long time ago and just recently all the DLC and I'm loving the gameplay, however, I started getting these random CTD's with a Windows error saying "Present Failed." When I looked it up, the solution was to use DX11 instead of DX12, however, it still causes crashes, and the crashes are getting worse. I can hardly play 5mins without it crashing now!

I've tried so many things, like graphics settings changes, clean install of Nvidia driver (RTX 2080 Ti), removing the game's settings/cache/save files from Documents and letting the game create new ones, verifying Steam files for the game (I own the Steam copy bought long ago as a pre-order), creating a page file (as per another Google solution).

Nothing works. I literally cannot play now as it's crashing between 5min autosave intervals. It's even crashing when the game is paused.

Is there no solution to this? I've seen this issue being posted since 2019 when I google search it, so it seems the developers do not care to fix it.

Anno 1800 playable with 16 GB RAM?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2021 06:32 AM PDT

Hello, I wanted to try out Anno 1800 but I read and saw that the game needs more than 16 GB RAM to run smoothly. My friend has a beast of a computer with 32 GB RAM and the game is taking up more than 16 GB for him, so in my case the game wouldn't be able to run properly I think?

Since I only have 16 GB RAM (DDR4, 3600 Mhz), would this lead to heavy stuttering or constant crashes? The game and season passes have reduced prices right now so before buying everything I wanted to make sure that I can even run the game. But then again, the system requirement page from Ubisoft says I only need 8 GB RAM to run the game at high settings and 60 FPS.

I am really confused about all this right now, can anyone help me?

    Buying DLC with ongoing saves

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 09:21 AM PDT

If I were to buy Docklands and load up my ongoing save, would I get access to the content or would I need to start a new game from scratch?
