Goulash is the worst chain because it doesn't interact with any other materials/consumables Posted: 01 Oct 2021 10:58 AM PDT Weird thought I had playing Anno the other day, I was wondering why canned food feels like such a bit hurdle to get past, and even late game productions like steam carriages and gramophones feel somewhat easier, then it hit me: Goulash and its ingredients don't interact with any other aspect of the game at all. Think about it; Goulash only exists to make canned food, and beef and bell peppers only exist to make goulash, where as with steam carriages, you where already making steam engines for ships, and whilst the cab frames are a new item, you where already using wood for many things, and rubber for the penny farthings. Therefore, you just need to build the new production buildings, and scale up your already existing farms to accommodate it, rather than building an entirely new chain of supplies. There's just something that stands out about a chain that requires 3 separate buildings to run, and all it produces is a product that needs further refinement, but none of those builds have any other alternative uses that just irks me, especially when later chains start overlapping in resources, its just with anomalous difficulty jump mid game. Posted: 01 Oct 2021 04:07 AM PDT Hey good people. Lately anno 1800 got a bit easy for me. Making money and getting a decent ammount of population was easy mainly due to items. Therefore I decided to create a new game where I am not allowed to use items. Only exception being in ships, museum, zoo and botanical garden. And I have to say it is a real challange to balance the budget. But also it allows me more freedom with production layouts since there is no need to clump everything together under the same guild house. So for everybody looking to challange themselves I recommend trying this out. [link] [comments]

Regarding the advaced distillery, cotton mill and coffee roaster from the Research institute. Posted: 30 Sep 2021 08:13 PM PDT So, when I first got to know them I thought it was a purely a gameplay centric alternative to ease the "challenge" that is the production of rum cotton fabric and coffee, without much regard for the realistic aspect (I mean, rum IS a sugar cane thing afterall). But then I just found out that Malt Coffee is a real product! maybe not as good, but real none the less. My question now is, does potato + coal has a similar or any level of grounding in reality to produce something like rum? how? And to make cotton fabric, even if we consider its ingame supposed to just be a adequate enough substitute instead of cotton fabric per se, how the hell wood + wool makes any sense? I can see how wool was their only option (because its supposed to be easy and not add yet another new product, thus use a already existing thing), but how adding wood helps? anyway, Im just curious. Why is there no Season Pass Bundle for Anno 1800? Posted: 01 Oct 2021 07:26 AM PDT So my friend already owns the vanilla Anno 1800 and we would love to play with the dlcs on but buying every dlc costs as much as buying the game itself. There is a version where you get the game with the dlcs but he already owns the game itself. Or is there something I am missing? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2021 06:23 PM PDT I still haven't got to the end of the Tourist DLC and have just encountered a problem with the Arctic. I tried to make grogg...but i have to complete a successful mission to the Arctic...i have no idea what has gone wrong...i don't have any quests left in the Arctic, i have Airships and Lady Faithfull's ship is still at King William island, i think something may have timed out because i started the expedition months ago but only got my first Airship a couple of weeks ago because i play very slowly lol...anyone know what i need to do?
