Bright Sands Rebuilt (Never. Ever. Again)

    Posted: 13 Dec 2021 09:14 PM PST

To anyone out there thinking "hmm, maybe I'll rebuild Bright Sands to how it was when it was owned by Uncle Edvard Goode."

Don't do it. I nearly tore my hair out, it takes forever and it can't be done 100% accurately because some residences are not connected and cannot be connected.

Don't get me wrong, I love the look of Bright Sands, great work dev's, just -_-. It was a grind.

Heads up for anyone playing with mods- I just installed the latest update and purchased the Vibrant Cities DLC. Unfortunately, the mod loader out of date message pops up before playing, and none of my mods are working anymore

Vibrant Cities not compatible with skyscrapers

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 11:19 AM PST

It looks like vibrant cities isn't compatible with skyscrapers - they just go back to the default white skin when you upgrade from a base investor residence with a skin applied. Disappointed 🥺

Anno 1800 fps issue 3060 ti

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 12:09 PM PST

Ive watched many Youtube videos with people using a 3060 ti on this game and they get well over 100 fps into like 130, on high to ultra settings. Im over here on MED struggling to get over 50 fps in a 3k pop city in the second age. What is going on, any ideas? My cpu is around 51% and gpu around 45%

    Separate industry islands?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 08:21 AM PST

    Hi y'all!

I am playing on the hardest settings sandbox mode and am a bit struggling with influence + industry places in early endgame (3k investors in Crown Falls, no mods). I want to decide and prepare for the end game organisations.

Do you guys work with separate tiny industry islands that specifically produce one consumption good and populate it with the commuter piers and then ship the goods to the populated islands? Or do you produce mostly on the spot?

(Anno 1800) How can I counter AI's fortification spam?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 07:54 AM PST

In my game, AI attacked my ally and I joined the war. However, I was not really ready militarily and economically. I managed to make a battlecruiser and some ship o lines. I successfully raid most of its trade routes but I can't touch its islands. Whenever I send some ship to its island it becomes a dead end. It has tons of defenses and destroys my ships without sending any warships. I am really mad about it. Should I also build a lot of defenses so that AI would also not be able to take my islands and it would lead to continuous war?

    Ship alternate skin as default?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 12:32 AM PST

I have acquired for a mere 5 gold bars and a few pocketwatches the cosmetic DLC where you can shift your ships garment to an alternate one.

Question being, do I need to click on each one to do that, every time I produce a ship? Is there a mass update possible or a default to be set?

    Soapified!

    Posted: 13 Dec 2021 07:40 AM PST

Today I got scammed by Bleakworth! I ctrl-clicked on my precious 15 soaps (brand new game) and only received a fraction of what I deserved from it.

Checking prices, they were at 96 !! Outrageous! The bug has returned, I demand reparation. Or at least a warm shower with delicate soap.

I wish there was a High Life pack for lower tier residences

    Posted: 12 Dec 2021 08:43 PM PST

One thing I really dislike about Anno 1800 is how top heavy and "upside down" the population densities: ie workers living in detached houses, the wealthy elite living in cramped apartments, and how you'd get ever increasing numbers at higher levels. It's a weird quirk of all Anno games, but in those games I could justify it as representing how urbanised an area is, however given how much more important each wealth level is in 1800, it's a bit odd.

I get the vibe they are going for with the workers in 1800: they are more quaint mining town in Yorkshire or Wales than the industrial cities of Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester or Hull. But given the amount of worker residences you need to staff all your ironworks and other factories, you need to carpet half your island in semi-rural detached houses (still, not as bad as the Arctic where you have to build the world's most poorly planned music festival as you blanket an entire glacier in tents to unlock the people that you actually need to work the only thing you settled on it for).

In reality, the working classes were largely urbanised by the 19th century, living in poor living conditions including overcrowding, poor sanitation and poorly constructed, mass built terraces, tenements and back-to-backs.

I sort of wish the High Life pack, which focused on providing even higher densities for engineers and investors, it would have instead focused on urbanisation of workers and artisans, and mitigation of the negative aspects of their living conditions.

For example, like skyscrapers, you would get a new a new type of housing (or upgrading from regular housing as an alternative to upgrading class) that would be terraces (that link together) which would be able to house a much higher number of residents but have a permanent penalty to happiness that must be mitigated by provision of extra goods and services. These terraces can then be further upgraded to tenements which house even greater numbers at an even greater penalty. Risk of disease would also increase which would have to mitigated by the construction of public baths, waterworks and sewage treatment, maybe even larger hospitals that have effectiveness boosted by the provision of drugs and medical supplies.

This could be coupled with other aspects of Victorian urbanisation such as public transport in the form of tramlines, an advanced road that also requires steel that must be powered and connected to a depot, but in return offers a much increased range of public services. Or larger, more efficient factories for early game goods that require advanced materials such as steel, concrete and steam engines, for example, trawlers that replace fishing docks and uses workers instead of farmers and produces significantly higher quantities of fish. Same with larger textile mills, bakeries and breweries, etc.

I know as we are pretty much at the end of 1800's lifespan so this has zero chance of being implemented, and if I'm explaining things clearly or sufficiently, or if people would actually like this, or if this is focusing too much on historical realism for minimal gain, but it's something that has been on my mind lately.

I'm hoping that the upcoming vibrant cities pack, while albeit purely cosmetic, will help in some form via the brick theme in urbanised workers and artisans that would fit an urban landscape better.

    Anno 1404 cursor problem

    Posted: 13 Dec 2021 10:48 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask you guys for a support.

I've recently got Anno 1404 History edition (it is currently offered free on Ubisoft web), I've played Anno 1701 for years, so when I've seen the free offer, I went for it immediately.

However, I have a very unpleasant problem. Any time I run the game, my cursor is not where it appears to be. To explain, whenever I point cursor on anything, it's actually clicking on completely different place than I'm actually pointing (it's clicking approximately 3cm down and 1 cm to the left). It renders game unplayable, could someone told me how to fix it?

    Thanks!
