    Mods + the New Update

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 05:42 AM PST

    Hi all,

As there's been a new update to the game, I'm guessing that it will break saves if there's mods involved - is this true? And if so, will the save-breaking update be rectified by a modloader update? I'm terrified of running the updated version of the game at the moment for fear that all my hard work will vanish into the ether.

    Thanks!

Is there a memory leak in the game right now?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 08:16 AM PST

The other day I left the game running from 5 AM to about midnight. (0 Ais, no pirates) I didn't play constantly. Just didnt feel like closing it when my 3 yr old wanted to play cashier, or go sledding, or while watching the very close and very riveting wildcard football games.

By the end of the day my PC was CHUGGING. It would take 2-3 secs for a session swap, there would be graphical delays while just clicking on ships and build menu. I tried just closing and reopening the game but the delays were still there. I just figured my potato of a machine reached its max with the amount of sessions, population and trade routes I had. So I just created a new game, but without enbessa and the arctic. This issue persisted even on a fresh game.

It wasn't until I actually rebooted my entire PC that the issue was resolved. I could even play my larger longer game again and there was no delays whatsoever.

Anyone else notice severe slowdown after leaving it run too long and needing an actual PC reboot?

    Handling investor orchads

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 01:37 AM PST

For producing lacquer i usually have the problem of the resin orchard trying to deliver to the factory directly which is too slow.

This also works for other buildings if you have a whole chain on one island.

You can put a warehouse that collects from orchards, but don't connect the orchard road all the way to other factories.

So orchard road to warehouse, and another road from warwhouse to harbour. That way orchards can't supply the factories directly.

It's a small thing I hope it helps someone.

Hi, if you're not connected to the trading-post eventhough you're connected to oil-harbour, the building that are not connected to trading-post is now considered has no connection to harbour. You used to be able to use the oil-harbour trick, it's space-saving, Dev changed it or addressed as a bug?

Oil consumption of Power Plants is not being calculated

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 09:07 AM PST

It seems to be the newest bug intruduced with the latest patch (13.1).

Only the consumption of Oil by the Fuel Stations is being calculated in the Statistics Menu. Power Plants are "invisible" there. They seem to be operating correctly, my industry and inhabitants have the electicity, but the numbers in the statistics are totally off.

I just now turned the game on. Let's see what other new stuff I can find.

Good job with the "hot fix", devs! It's definitely not hot and doesn't seem to be that big of a fix.

Deep iron mine exhausted? Anno 1602

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 11:50 PM PST

Hi everyone. My deep iron mines are exhausted after some time. I read that deep iron mines should be infinite, or do they just give more than a regular mine before depleting? Tools are so painful

So...... does Atlantis exist? (Anno 1800)

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 12:19 PM PST

I've wondered this for a few days, does Atlantis actually exist within the lore of the games? This seems to reflect a strange trend I've seen while playing Anno 1800, which seems to incorporate strange and mythical objects into normal history, take for example "The Empire of the Eagle" which is fairly obviously Rome, taking the legendary artifacts name from Augustus Caesar, but if you look elsewhere, take, for example, the Aegean Cultures section, you can find "Song of Odysseus" alongside "Statue of Enesidaone", a possibly real, but unimportant, god, who is DEFINITELY not Poseidon. Also, the Kraken. All of this makes it fairly difficult to determine what is and isn't real in the game.

    Pirates not respawning

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 12:56 PM PST

    Hi all,

has the issue of the pirates not respawing been adressed over the last updates? I've been having that issue for almost a year now. But I also use the Spice It Up mods. In my last savegame Anne Harlow tried to retake her island once and then never returned.

Is there a way to trigger it or something? Any advice aside from reloading the save from before her island was destroyed would be appreciated! Cheers!

    Unemployment in Anno 1800

    Posted: 16 Jan 2022 11:30 PM PST

I have been playing Anno 1800 since a month and I have been able to attract 500 Engineers at Bright Sands after completing the campaign.

I am a former player of Pharaoh (from city-building series created by Impression Games) and I noticed a big difference between Pharaoh and Anno 1800 with regards to Unemployed workforce.

In Pharaoh, if residents do not have sufficient jobs, they don't earn money, cannot buy any items or pay taxes and eventually they become discontented and actually leave the city due to lack of jobs. Whereas in Anno 1800, residents NEED NOT be working at any industry but they would be still happy, pay taxes, buy items from the marketplace etc. This allows having hundreds of excess residents of any type on an island.

What is the source of income for the unemployed workforce in Anno 1800? Although I was able to understand that having excess residents of higher levels is key to earning money through tax, I am also curious to know how these residents are earning money in the first place if there are not enough jobs in the island.

Which AI NPCs will peace out?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 11:01 AM PST

I'm playing a hard game right now and early in the game Alonso Graves declared war on me. I just bided my time until Battlecruisers and have forced him into peace after nearly wiping him out.

However, Margaret is starting to become too big - do we know which AI NPCs will never peace out?

Anno 1800 ship skins are no longer displayed in the tooltip?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 02:13 AM PST

Do any of you remember that (maybe like a year or so ago) when the skins of the ships were changed, the icon/preview of the bottom menu where all the ships are shown changed too? At what point did this stop working?

This was very useful for locating some ships or organizing them at a glance. Now they all look the same, with their icon/preview being the default skin, which makes changing the skin purely cosmetic with no utility beyond that.

Does anyone else remember this or am I confused and this never happened?

A trick I never saw posted ... Mitigating overworking penalties

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 01:03 AM PST

If you have some spare manpower, you can reduce overall overworking penalties for a given population category by adding more buildings using decent-to-significant workforce. And having these buildings work at most at 100% or even at reduced productivity.

This will reduce the overall penalty and hopefully maintain the mood of your population to decent level.

Now you might wonder why do that and on which buildings... I have identified different cases.

One is about a problem of island space. For example I often have an issue with grain farms, they use a lot of space, so I'll systematically boost productivity to +50% to get as much grain as possible. To "compensate" the penalty, simply add more buildings like Schnaps distilleries, which is a small building (physically) and reduce under 100% their productivity down to -50% if need be (and yes, you must still check that your supply chains make sense!).

Another example is to make savings!

Not all buildings have the same "equivalence" between workforce and upkeep. Some have X workforce usage and (for example) 2 X in upkeep. Some have the same workforce as upkeep. Some are super costly to upkeep but only use a small amount of workforce!

So how do you play with that? The buildings using the smallest amount of workforce but with big upkeep can be pushed to +50% systematically. Their "weight" in the overall happiness equation will be low. To compensate, if need be, just add more buildings with fairly significant workforce usage and not that big upkeep, and reduce productivity under 100%. And voila, happy citizens, overall. In the details, many will twiddle their thumbs so that a few poor souls will kill themselves working day and night :-)

Should I be concerned witha a 10-ish queue of ships?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 04:37 AM PST

Hi! Does anyone have some insight on how bad it means if ships queue to dock? with 7 piers and a harbour master with that angereb lady with -30% dock time, I still get a line 10-ish ships waiting to dock, should I be concerned? or is it an insignificant delay?
