Boston, or something like that. ("New England")

You annoholics should go watch The Gilded Age by HBO it's practically the Anno 1800 tv show

My game has memory leak issue so I've been watching Victorian age stuff to get in the mood of the game while waiting for the fix and I came across this show.

I feel like this is as close as a Anno 1800 tv show would be like. everything from the set to the costumes have huge production value as hbo shows do, and you can be easily convinced that the citizens in your anno city are doing the same stuff that the characters in the show do. It's pretty cool.

Cathedrals - The Puzzle Peice of Perfection

Cathedrals - The Puzzle Peice of Perfection

First of all, Anno 1800 is incredible. I've never found a city builder that eases you in so nicely, and its lack of a clock and the ability to move structures really adds to the idea of incremental progress as I invest countless hours.

I had not bought this game at first, until I was looking at some of the architecture thinking how much it REALLY looked like my town of Wiesbaden. A quick google search later, and I find that the game is designed mere minutes from me in Mainz, Germany. I purchased it almost instantly and haven't looked back.

But I have a question. Why are there not magnificent cathedrals in the base game? The developers work a mere 6 minute walk to one of the most gorgeous cathedrals in Germany, and few things speak to European prowess and longevity and truly distinct the Old world from the New than these gigantic sprawling behemoths. It would bring some fabulous authenticity to beauty building city centers. Certainly you sit with your laptops and sketchpads enjoying its shady footprint soaking in caffeine and its inspiration. I can see that in the market stalls of the cosmetic packs at the very least. Please bring these behemoths into the world of Anno 1800. My islanders are beckoning for them.

Which is your favorite DLC? (So far)

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 03:51 PM PDT

1404 Barren Lands done! After reading from a fellow player here I finished an old save game. Not for the fun (because it wasn't) , but just to complete the last scenario.

I really struggle to divide attention across multiple islands, let alone multiple zones. Any advice to make it easier?

    Changing NPC colours

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 09:26 AM PDT

Are there mods out there to change the colours of Npcs? I know of one changing all Npcs and colours but I'd just like to change one at a time. Like Admiral Silva from blue to yellow.

Are there any simple mods for passenger railways?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 01:02 AM PDT

One area that I think is sorely underutilised in Anno 1800 is the railway network generally.

As it exists now, it's purely for the transportation of oil. Considering the general time period and aesthetic of the game, passenger railways feel like they would be a natural addition to me, and honestly I was surprised they weren't added with Tourist Season.

To me, it seems like a natural extension to Tourist Season's Bus Network. Extending railways by adding stations that function similar to and provide the same need as bus stops would be a great addition imo. It should slot in fairly easily, essentially functioning like longer range bus stations, and would allow for wider transportation of Tourists to make more interesting and aesthetically diverse builds.

The only mod I've been able to find so far was originally made pre-tourist season, and works in a bit of a weird way. Rather than extending the bus network, it is it's own need. The mod also does a lot of other things, such as changes to Hotels and investor residences, and also has a whole post system. It's a good mod, but not really what I'm looking for.

    Does anything like this exist?

    Thanks!
