DLC idea - war for independence.

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 07:57 AM PST

I'd love to go all out total war naval warfare against the queen. Not some pseudo anarchy commie wannabe like Dt. Mercier, but a full blown war for independence. Win right to abolish royal taxes, and many other interesting effects of game. Some example features: - new region with royal stronghold that must be defeated and where crown AI sends naval attacks from. - score points with rival empire, like Silva and pirates - trade embargos?

Any chance of this ever happening?

Idea for DLCs mechanics- "OR" function or "bring the tea"

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 03:22 AM PST

Looking on DLCs we get so far, none of them really change game that much, which is logical as it will take too much work to do. But with new DLCs we expect something new -gas from passage is nice addition which can hugely affect how your bigger cities works, but even counting you can get electricity(gas), gold (better mines) and zinc/copper(upgraded gas station with item) is really nothing that new for old world.

So i was thnking, reading around about ideas of australia/africa/far east maps to make "or" function for our population needs - what do I mean is, for example : we get far east map which produce tea -so back in old world we have both tea and coffee, but citizen use both to satisfied need for refreshing drinks. With this, you can imagine lots of combinations (gold/silver; pearls/gems, chocolate/spieces etc).

You may say that this dont change too much and just add flavor, but thats precisly it - we get new bulding which belong to new maps and yet programmers dont need to really think how to implement them back in old world.

    What you think?

fun math fact about scourge of anno 1800 -coffee - one ship can bring 300 tons of coffee if full - with one cup of coffee need 20 grams of coffee - each full ship bring 15 000 000 cups of coffee - yet with almoust 15 ship bringing coffee for my 60 000 people its still not enough -how much of that stuff those poor people actually drink?

Finally got Chartered Company, this is what worked...

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:20 PM PST

This achievement had been eluding me for some time, and I finally got it! As some of you may have noticed when looking at your achievements when you're in a game, you'll see Chartered Company and X/X (in my case X/9). Those numbers will vary wildly from game to game, but I after reading a thread of someone finding that after building a Gentleman's Club that number and after cutting the road connection it went down again.

So I experimented some. Turns out that number is Investor happiness! I played around with a couple of happiness items in the town hall that had the Investor in it's radius. Popped in a +5 happiness item, and checked the achievement to see it was 5/9. Put in another +5 happiness item and I got it!

Hopefully this information is useful to ya'll achievement hunters!

At what point do you start developing Trelawney?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 11:34 PM PST

So im new to the game and have just unlocked trelawney in a custom game. However I still need a lot of work to be done on my main island and new world.

My income is going well, my needs for artisan have not been met yet and a few luxury stuff also needs doing for workers. I have more than enough space to expand on main island so that isn't a factor.

At what point do you guys recommend I start working on trelawney?

Issues with influence in multiplayer coop game

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:15 AM PST

Hey guys, our group has been running into some issues concerning influence in our latest sessions and I was wondering if anyone else has the same problems or possibly a fix for them.

So basically we will end our session with +20 influence and when we load the savefile the next day it randomly sits at -170.

Our idea was, that it has something to do with the ships we built the past session (similar to the ghostship-bug?), because:

    - We saved our (long) session with positive influence (20something)

    - We loaded it the next day with -170

    - One Cargo Ship finished producing (was queued from the previous session)

    - We saved and reloaded

    - Our influence was at -173 (Cargo Ships cost 3 influence)

Does anyone have similar problems in Multiplayer (Coop) or any ideas how we could fix this?

Still not getting epic or legendary specialists from tourism with high attractiveness and new world huaca set

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 02:10 AM PST

I have 6500 attractiveness with new world huaca set, 61% probability of guests but still getting rare and below specialists.

Did they nerf the drop rate of legendary specialists or am I missing Elise the nose?

Maybe removing the new world huaca set would help narrow the specialist pool to epics and legendaries :/

What is the best way to protect trade routes?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:44 PM PST

I've been having issues with pirates picking off small ships on my intra-region trade routes. There are so many small boats going all over the place that even with a few frigates patrolling the pirates are able to sneak in and take out my ships. How do you all do it?

The amount of Micromanagement I have to do to stay on top of things is getting harder to manage.

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 09:20 PM PST

For reference, I just hit Artisan tier. But before I allowed myself to do so, I wanted to stabilize my mini island economies and trade routes. Right now I have 5 trade routes going with a schooner for each and about 3 gunboats patrolling dense areas for pirates. Right now 1 of my islands is entirely devoted to Schnapps and Bricks production, another island ramping up on schnapps, another island on bread, sausage and soap, and the final island on green and red peppers and beef. My main island currently does it all but peppers, but it is my dream to slowly move the farming jobs to outlying islands... I started my gaming session intending to go deep into artisan tier. Instead I spent 5 to 6 hours trying to balance my small satellite economies, move supplies, and build defenses with the last 30 minutes finally getting into Artisan tier. My current cash on hand is 120k thanks to soap proceeds from the prison with a steady inflow of 700-1000 currency per unit of time.

Obviously, things are only going to get more complicated the more tiers I unlock and of course when I get to the new world... There is a limit to what I can manage. I have a feeling that eventually I won't be transporting wood or brick around by trade routes and will have to keep an eye on the needs of production islands every 30 minutes based off a timer or something...

Late game performance considerations - Anno 1800 and 1404

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 01:10 PM PST

    Hi,

I love the Anno games but there is one gripe I have with them - late game slowdown. The most recent Anno 1800 seems to be handling it somewhat better than previous entries (2070 and 1404, with 2205 being a nice surprise of virtually no slowdown), but still the problem remains. The game runs smooth in early game but when I build any notable cities, it slows down. The game is quite playable on normal speed, but I so miss the fast speed.

    Now, my question is twofold:

    1. What are the things ingame that have the most impact on performance? Is it the number of citizens, the number of buildings? Is it affected by the world size (is it a good idea to go for a small world size o alleviate the issue)?

    2. What are the hardware limitations? I'd assume the graphics is not an issue, since I can get it to low, change resolution to something very small and there is no apparent difference. When checking in task manager, my CPU only seems to be used at about 40% with load split among all cores.

    I am running a xeon e3 1230 v2 3.3GHz 4 cores 8 threads and a GTX 1060 6GB and 16GB RAM.

I was wondering about upgrading the CPU to i3-8350K, since it seems to have a very good single core performance. Still, will it help since the task manager doesn't show my CPU being used to the fullest? I also wouldn't mind if it helped with the same issues in Anno 1404.

Or perhaps I should add more ram? The game uses about 13GB as far as I can tell and there is still a small amount left, but perhaps this is the issue?

I'd be very grateful for your advice.

Production modifiers: working conditions and electricity

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 12:19 AM PST

Hi! Something i wasnt able to find out yet, but wanna know before planning my cities:

Does electricity also multiply the 50% bonus of working conditions or specialist buffs? Or is it an added 100% bonus?

Also if i have an iland with no residents (but commuter port), do i risk riots with increased working conditions?
