Day/Night cycle time zones across sessions

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 07:56 AM PST

    First time posting on reddit.

I admit that day/night cycle was never a feature high on my priorities, but in retrospect I recognize it adds a richness to the experience, and perhaps some realism. It is also fun playing choosing my favortie time of day (I'm a 7am kind of guy). I don't think anyone would disagree that this "luxury" feature was throughouly implemented and is testimony to the Anno dev's conscientiousness.

But with Anno 1800's sessions being scattered gloably, it seems like an oversight that time zones were ignored. I do understand Anno is not high on realism, but given that Time and day was implemented in such a rich way, and that gameplay experience is supposed to project the sense of controlling a global industrial tycoon, the following easy-to-do adjustments seem like reasonable expectations:

*The New World should be around 9 hours behind the Old World (I took Berlin and Los Angeles as rough, possible indicators)

*The Arctic should have critically shorter day time/night time (depending on season - I will leave this decision to the developers). This is not only realistic, but adds to the surreal harshness of the passage.

*Perhaps the developers have considered time-zones and had decided that this "realism" is actually detrimental to the ability to focus on tycoon management and the constant shift between day times could be bothersome. I think this line of reasoning is legit, and can be fixed with a "time-zone" toggle button, same as the daytime cycle button.

I would appreciate a constructive comment from the developers.

I mean, hey, in what world will my workers wake up the same time as my Jornaleros.

    What do you think?

Ubisoft please give these locations as future DLC's after 'The Passage'

Ubisoft please give these locations as future DLC's after 'The Passage'

So Ubisoft confirmed on their Anno Union post today that there are indeed ideas floating around for future DLC's after 'The Passage', stating

"The Passage is not the end for Anno 1800, and we are working on new gameplay content and features to further expand the world of the industrial revolution"

I'm sure Ubisoft have some idea's up their sleeves, but looking at the world map there are some amazing possibility for future locations.

    The dry southern DLC:

You've all seen it hiding down the bottom of the world map. Honestly if it's an updated clone of Anno 1404's southern regions I wouldn't even be mad.

    - Spice Trade
    - New Ships to build
    - A couple of new pirate factions
    - New buildings
    - New production chains

    The possibilities are endless.

    The next 'New World' location:

Up around the corner from the current New World is much more unexplored territories. Being farther north than the current New World, it could be an interesting mix of tropical new work and temperate old world, like a similar sub-tropical look and climate to current day Uruguay or New Zealand.

    - New animals
    - New trades
    - New factions/pirates
    - Hopefully some more coffee fertility so we can cope with Old World/Cape/Passage demands......

    Temperate River Delta:

Around the coast from Cape is a river delta which could make for another amazing setting; two large land masses either side of a massive map located in a large river delta. Could have similar climate and resources to the Amazon Delta.

Honestly the possibilities available just on the current world map is exciting to think about.

Looking forward to seeing what's behind your curtain Ubisoft :-)

What other ideas do people have?
