Every time a feast ends, it's a perfect opportunity to write about how much worse an island has become

A feast begins, attractiveness rises, nice.

A feast ends, attractiveness falls, let's write an article about it -- things have never been that grim. Well, may be before the feast began?.. Nah, never.

    Couple simple AI questions

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 09:00 AM PDT

    1. If you don't do the expedition for Cape Trelawney does the AI still go there? Say you don't go there will an AI eventually actually grab the Crown Falls island? (Would actually be interested in seein what an AI does with that huge island.
    2. Does the AI go to the Arctic?

Are the new tractor shed's supposed to explode all the time?

Are more fields per farm better for production?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 09:39 AM PDT

Are more fields per farm better for production?

Just like the title says, I would like to know if it is more efficient to have more fields with a tractor and Union items like fertilizers or if it would be better to focus items that increase general productivity by a big percentage.

I am trying to build a new Cape Trelawney city, and I have fertilizers and fields increase items in my union building, but with just 5 farms that have over 367 fields each (wheat farms) I lost a big chunk of terrain. I won't even begin to yap about my big farms that chunk out potatoes and hop.

I am using a trainer for maximum construction materials, and I use CTRL + O to monitor my FPS and other values. I have a mod pack called Spice It Up and a separate mod called Increase fuel station range.

I am also considering building wheat and hops on another island, but the question I still need an answer for is, should I focus more on productivity & chance on making a product each nth production round, or if I should throw everything on more fields and productivity .

Thanks in advance for the help, and have a nice day!

    EDIT: fixed few typo's.

So this is how it looks now.

Mod help: Increased Harbourarea mod not reducing range needed for Piers

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 08:14 AM PDT

My understanding (from what I've seen of various posts and screenshots) is that the Increased Harbourarea mod reduces the range needed for Piers as well as increasing the usable Harbour area on islands. I installed it on an existing save and while I am seeing the extended range for my Harbours, the Piers still have the more or less infinite empty space needed in front of them, instead of being reduced.

Any ideas what is going on? Perhaps because it was added to an existing save file?

Need tips on how to growing fast

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 04:09 AM PDT

So I've completed the campaign and decided to replay in sandbox for more freedom. I choose 3 AI Opponents, 2 of them(The Anarchist and the 1 star British guy) are kinda ok. The last is Lady Margaret, she's such a beach to me. I didn't do anything and she declares war on me. Try to reload an early save to produce frigate to fight her but I can't, it took too long, I didn't even have Artisan to unlock frigate yet and she already have some. Any tips? Thank you in advance.

Haven't played Anno since I was a child, but, after reading many recommendations, I just up and got Anno 1404. Is it recommended starting with the campaign or free play? Any recommended mods?

    4k on 1070 TI & Ryzen 7 1700?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2020 01:46 AM PDT

I have a Ryzen 7 1700 8c/16t with 16 GB RAM and an Nvidia 1070 TI. My settings are 4K resolution, all high except AA off and lightning low, DX12. In the beginning, the game has less than 60 FPS but it is still playable but later on and on high speed it gets much slower.

How can I change my settings to get better late game performance? 4kis a must though. Which partof my systemis limiting FPS? I am thinking about buying a Nvidia 3070 when it comesout , would that help much?

New Player (1800). Could Use some help.

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 11:07 PM PDT

So I just got the game today and loving it, but struggling a bit.

First problem: when I reach a population of about 3000 my income balance suddenly tanks. I'm on my third restart and it just happened again. As far as I understand, to get more income, just keep building housing? But that doesn't seem to work, then I just have a huge sprawl of farm houses that can't be upgraded because none of them are full, and then I'm left with a shortage of workers.

Second problem: In my second attempt, I discovered an island very close to my starting island that had 3 clay deposits, 2 iron, and 2 zinc. I thought I hit the jackpot because my starting island only had 1 clay deposit and I was constantly running up against a brick shortage. Only, I found out the hard way that because the island was quite small, I basically covered the whole thing in farm houses and potato farms trying to get a worker population going to sustain all the mining and I just couldn't do it. What's the best way to take advantage of a very small island that is rich in mineral resources?

    Rescue Expedition question

    Rescue Expedition question

Are items supposed to be on the loot table for the expedition rewards for rescue missions? The wiki and tool tip say specialists, but so far the last several have only given me items. Is this just the RNG disliking me again?

Traditional fog of war for Anno 1800?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 06:39 PM PDT

I was really dissapointed to see that the fog of war is basically non-existant in this game since you can remove all of it by just sailing around. Is there any mods or dlc that change this? Since multiplayer seems kind of pointless when you can just send warships and break every single trade route of an enemy.

Tldr: Way to make fog reappear if units are not there?

    HANDS UP!!

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 05:25 PM PDT

If you want options to refuse all allegiance requests!! Allies are cancer in this game the way they have it set up. You get forced into wars you weren't asked about or desire. I know that I, and many, literally refuse alliances as they currently are implemented in this game, as they serve little purpose, and are mostly a bad choice.

I would LOVE IT if I never had to be asked again. Screw it, I'll even take the incremental diplomacy hit for an auto refusal, but for the love of god please stop making me click no on those things!

While we are at it, maybe refusals to all "can I settle this island?" Requests!

At a minimum it would be nice to have toggles in the settings to auto refuse some aspects!!

    That's my rant. Thanks!

    Campaign's behavior

    Posted: 12 Jun 2020 04:25 PM PDT

    Hey.

I picked up the game on discount in epic games, I'm in love with it!

Quick question, I'm playing really slow paced since I'm new to it and it has a very complex production chains and stuff to learn. Do I have to replay the game allover again when I get to it's speed or can I play it at my own pace without any worries and move along with the campaign?

I'm a bit concerned that at any minute I'm gonna get bamboozled by some random ships by not carefully preparing myself.
