What are some buildings you would add to Anno 1800?

I'd like these the most: -Café -Opera House -Bathhouse -Casino -Horse Racing Track (okay, this one would take up a lot of space, but horseracing is still sooo 1800s).

I think all of these buildings would fit well into the game's atmosphere (The Old World and the Cape at least), but I also know that they would make the game unnecessarily more complex. What buildings would you add, if any?

Completed my zoo collections! Have a couple of tips I want to share.

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 02:29 AM PDT

Hi! So, the last few days of playing anno were all about acquiring the last few remaining set cultural items in my collection. Today I have finally gotten the Albino Gorilla and now I have all the cultural item sets in the game. I'm still missing a few non-set items, but I'm not as worried about them.

Instead of sharing screenshots of a complete zoo/museum/gardens(cuz they're a mess at the moment), I decided to share a couple of tips I've picked up along the way.

    1. Rerolling expedition rewards.
I've seen a lot of tips in this subreddit on how to reroll expedition rewards properly, and some of them worked for me whilst some of them didn't. I had to reroll about 8 times to get my Albino Gorilla and all I had to do was reload a save. I must say, that the save I kept reloading was made right before I was called to deal with the expedition for their final hurdle before returning home. I didn't need to reroll items in any of the shops, as one user advised me, or load an older save earlier in the expedition. I didn't check if this simple reload would work with a save made before opening the rewards of an expedition that just came back, so I'll leave that to you.

    2. Item pools.
Every expedition has different reward pools, and I'm not just saying that a 1 Skull expedition will not give you a legendary item, whereas a 3 Skull will not give you a grey item, reward pools also vary by region, and each region has a limited amount of items to draw from. For example, I originally started thinking of finding other ways to reroll expedition rewards because I kept getting the same rewards from a 3 Skull zoological expedition to the middle of the old world. Turns out, that particular spot has a very limited amount of animals assigned to it, so no matter how many times you reroll the rewards, you'll almost always end up with a goblin shark and 2 of its friends. An expedition to the south-eastern part of the old world(just east of Trelawney), has a VAST reward pool for a 3 Skull mission. Not only does it have every 1 of the 6 snowflakes, but also quite a few of the non-set legendaries( I won't spoil them here, unless people ask).

    3. Getting the expeditions you want.
The expeditions that pop up in your expedition menu are 100% random, as far as I know, and there's a limit to how many expeditions you can have available - 6. The thing is that it's not limited to 6 because of the expedition menu size, but because there are only 6 expedition spots on the world map(I'm not a 100% sure about this, but this is the conclusion I came to based on my experience). Those spots are: 1 in the Arctic, 2 in the New World(North and South) and 3 in the Old World(North, Middle and South-East). Say you want to do a 3 Skull zoological expedition to the arctic, just wait until all of the other expedition spots on the map get filled up with other random expeditions and keep them available. If you have all the other 5 spots apart from the arctic "plugged" with expeditions, then the final 6th expedition will always be for the arctic. Now just keep deleting new arctic expeditions until the 3 Skull zoological expedition you want pops up.

Hope this was helpful! Have fun!

Anno 1800 - standard version vs uplay+ trail

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 10:12 AM PDT

Hey guys. Do you think I'm going to lose the progress when I switch from free uplay+ version that expires for me this Friday to standard which i bought couple of days ago?

From what I understand, uplay+ offers all of the DLCs, but standard, well doesn't..

    Losing an island (occupying multiple)

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 07:33 AM PDT

(noob question, but I can't find the any info anywhere)

So my friends and I all bought anno 1800. We decided to do a 2v2, starting off friendly letting each other build etc. Eventually my teamate expanded and ran his own island and so did our rivals (our other friends) they thought it would be funny to send in a few boats and attack my team mates Island, he fended them off and a a cease fire was declared.

Little did they know I was making a fleet of my own, so I noticed that our rivals 2nd Island didn't have any defenses, so we sent our fleet down and conquered their island.

My question is since it was conquered and wiped what happens to the them as it was not their main island, do they lose all income generated from that one island?

Lose resources? Do they suffer from the loss or does the main island continue to flourish if it was the main income receiver?

We're preparing for a attack but, I'll need my defenses set up as they were damaged from a small retaliation, also lost my shipyard in the process. Though as for our 2 islands mine actually doesn't make the most money though it has all the resources, I just want to get the jump on them before the big battle 😂

    Initial hints with a noob

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 05:55 PM PDT

I began 2 days ago with anno 1800, so i am quite noob, but I am pretty good understanding strategy games, but i don't know exactly how to handdle this one in one aspect...

As you know, according to the level of the population you collect taxes (farmers, workers, artisans, engineers...)

But artisans, that give you much more money do not demand fish, neither clothes. Therefor, when you have a massive population based in farmers production that can use workers (fish, clothes), and you want to transfer the farmer population to artisans, you need much less population devoted to it. So how you calculate the way to drop that production, and therefor the population to save space?

Essentially i am devoting a lot of space to feed low income population.

    I see two options:

Raising workers to artisans -as many as i can-, and reduce the percentage of the fishing productivity little by little, and in that small little percentage, reduce the number of farmer houses, if i don't go in default. The same with clothings, potatos, liquor, etc.

The other is counting with a calculator, that provides the production in advance.

I perfectly understand that you have to specilize your islands afterwards, and perhaps one of them, is only to produce low tier products, and so and so. But how do you calculate, how to drop the production? In fact the statistics panel, is not great. I don't even know how many units i overproduce. Any help with the amount you have to reduce?
