Thought this one really looked like the Anno 1800 powerplant.

Anno 1701 - civ not upgrading

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:13 AM PST

Started playing 1701 today as it was free in the uplay store. Running through the campaign, and the learning curve seems quite steep (my first anno game). Currently wondering why my civ isn't upgrading from Settler to whatever-comes-next - they have all their "needs" met. Is it just locked in the campaign (that's not at all clear)? Or am I missing something?

Wondering if I should try a different Anno game...

    Can't finish quest | Anno 1800

    Anno1800 getting out of control.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:06 AM PST

Hello fellow players. I got this game as a gift and it didn't include any DLCs. Just old world and new world.

So I have beaten the 3 AIs in sandbox mode. And now just wasting hours building population. Can't make myself to start over.

There is a thing that I have noticed. When I settle a new island, I get 100workers 100 artisans without building any houses.

Is there a way to increase this population? Without using a commuter.

    DirectX error?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 12:28 PM PST

Haven't played in a long time. Is the DX12 error fixed or do I still have to play on DX11?

    Which anno title?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:11 AM PST

So Anno 1701 is free today in the uplay store; been having a bit of a play and quite like the concept but I can see basic QoL elements missing - no overlays showing production requirements for buildings (e.g. ratio of sheep fields to weavers for optimal production, etc).

Is this fixed/present in any of the other Anno titles, or is the player intended to google this for all of the games?

Anno 1800 seems to be the latest game. Is it also the best?

    Any views/suggestions/advice welcome :)

    Anno 1800 QOL

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:57 PM PST

I saw some posts previously from the anno community members and was wondering if we could suggest QOLs for 1800.

One thing that really stuck out to me was that once you start researching many items/specialists, it becomes really hard to go through them even with the filters (town hall, traders, harbor, etc.) already provided. Is there any way we could insert a search or a filter for which session they would be relevant to? I don't want to have to mouse over every OW/Enbesa/Artic specialist to have to see if they're the NW specialist i want. OR as an alternative be able to type something like cotton or wood and see the specialists/tools that affect those.

Club Rewards Locked When Using Geforce Now

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:29 AM PST

I received a free year of Geforce Now with my RTX 3070. I am trying it out from my MacBook Pro with Anno 1800. The game actually runs quite well at high settings - I was pleasantly surprised. I am having one issue though and was wondering if anybody else has run into this: All my Club Rewards are showing as locked when I play with Geforce Now. When I play on my PC directly they are all unlocked and work fine. Anno is connecting to Ubisoft and logging in when I play using Geforce Now so there is a connection to the service.

    Any ideas?

1k Artisans have moved to the island, but the new world is not open. There's a Bug?

Distribute goods evenly across all islands Anno 1800

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 12:18 PM PST

Fulfilling certain conditions, I use a method that distributes goods evenly across all islands, while overproduction is sold for coin. I call the method AGES - Anno goods equalization scheme.

Benefits: No need to babysit production chains looking out for overproduction, excess production is rewarded by earning coin, construction materials are always available in quantity on all islands.

1.There must be a net positive supply of a given item across all islands to consumption.

2.There must be at least one player willing to buy all goods.

3.There are enough cargo vessels such that, there's one per island UNLESS any island is producing more than 6 different goods (8 if using great eastern).

I'll use an example on how it works. Say there are 3 islands - alpha, beta and gamma with each producing 6 different goods that you want evenly distributed to all islands by cargo ship. 1 to 6 is produced on alpha, 7 to 12 on beta and 13 to 18 on gamma. These can be anything from schnapps to motors in old world or plantains to cigars in the new world. These goods can also be produced on other islands, but will need adjustments depending on where the island is on the trade route.

First, set the minimum stock on all 3 islands. I use 500/1000. Now go to trade routes and set all 3 ships to go from alpha to beta to gamma on 3 separate trade routes. Ship A will move items 1to 6 from alpha to beta, 7 to 12 from beta to gamma and 13 to 18 from gamma to alpha. This is the primary ship.

Now, set ship B to move items 13 to 18 from alpha to beta, 1 to 6 from beta to gamma and 7 to 12 from gamma to alpha. This is the secondary vessel. Finally, a third vessel will take items 7 to 12 from alpha to a seller ( like Archibald) and do the same with beta (13 to 18) and gamma (1 to 6). This ensures that all 3 islands have the minimum stock amount at all times and any excess production is sold for coin. I usually set a sell point of 700/1000 for all goods as well.

At this point, you only have to ensure that input and output on all production chains are equalized and the result is rock steady inventory for all goods on all islands. If you have 4 islands, 24 goods can be traded. If you assign 2 each of the primary and secondary ships, you can move a higher volume or more items. If you are producing an item on more than one island, only ensure that net supply/ demand is positive on islands higher up in the trade routes menu.

I have used this to good effect to balance all consumer and construction goods across islands, meaning each island can have all tiers of residents. It allows me to focus on arranging and beautifying islands and I only need to occasionally check inventory levels. This is my first ever post on Reddit and I hope you have found it useful !

NEW PLAYER - Few Questions regarding the best 2stars AI & Pirates

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 02:33 AM PST

Hey, I recently got the game, am playing Campaign. The default one gave me Beryl which steamrolled me way too many times. I don't want to play on easy mode with 3 1-star AI, would love to have slight challenge with a more manageable 2-stars AI that doesn't declare wars on me for no reasons even though our relationship is at 70+. I play on normal difficulty, want to play at a relaxing state with small challenges.

Also, in my games thus far, I never manage to meet up with pirates, why? I would like to have an alliance with pirates to make some trades easier maybe.

Or should I just deal with 3 1-star AI and battle with pirates?

    Any comments are welcome.

and No, I really don't want to see Beryl in my campaign/game!!!

    Thank you.

    Anno 1800 Which season pass?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 01:49 PM PST

I just purchased the Anno 1800 Standard Edition for only $12.00 CAD. I would like to get one of the season passes but unsure which one to get. I can only do one at this time so which one would you recommend? Thanks.
