Sugar plantation in the New World

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 12:04 PM PST

I've been having a lot of micro-freezes since the update. Every time I press a button, there's a chance that all the UI freeze for 2 to 15 seconds. Does anyone else have the same problem ?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 05:47 AM PST

I tried DX11 & 12, but no change between the two. Before the update, I use to have the game UI freeze for 20 sec to 1min if I opened the research institute or the World Fair UI. Now this is gone, but the micro-freezes are no better. It's really bugging me off.

[1800] A bit overwhelmed with several regions

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 11:01 AM PST

    Hi there !

I love this game (1800) but I can't help to feel a bit overwhelmed as soon as I have to manage 2 or 3 different regions (Old World, New World and Lands of Lion at the moment). Having to go back and forth, quests and notifications all over, keeping track of my boats or what to do next and where... makes my head spin a little.

Do you have any tips, shortcuts or UI secrets that I should know to make my experience a bit easier ?

    Thx !

    Question about multiplayer sandbox mode.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:46 AM PST

My friend and i started to play anno 1800 roughly a week ago and we had all win conditions off so we tought it would be endless. Apparently i was wrong..
I went to the first expedition to seek the new world and after exploring it i got a victory screen.
I can continue to play the save by myself but my friend cannot join because he is defeated.
Is there a way to play the game endlessly with friends?

Question About Population and Tier Specific Goals

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 05:40 AM PST

I have four Islands colonized in the Old World. Two of which are purposely only populated by Farmers and Workers. The third island is populated up to Artisans. My fourth most advanced island is up to Investors. All have commuter piers.

In goal specific scenarios where you need a certain population of a certain tier - i.e. building the World's Fair and needing so many Investors - is that goal the population of just that specific island or does it count all islands population as long as there are commuter piers present on those islands?

I am building a World's Fair now and really do not want to increase so many of my Engineers to Investors that the goal requires to build the Fair. I would rather upgrade some of my third island Artisans up to Investors since that island is ready for expansion.

I really do not like the look of cities with all Investors - it just does not look organic to me. I have spent a lot of time growing out every island organically and trying to make the cities look as realistic and natural as possible. A sea of green roofed buildings all looking the same over a large part of an island just looks unnatural and ugly to me.

    Performance Issues

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 01:38 AM PST

If this is against the rules let me know, I will ask somewhere else, but maybe someone here can help.

Let's start off with my system specs:

    Ryzen 7 2700X

    RTX 3070 8GB VRAM (EVGA XC3 Ultra)

    16GB DDR4 3000Mhz RAM

250 GB Samsung 970 EVO NVME SSD (Boot Drive)

Game is installed on a Seagate 1TB HDD 7200 RPM

Corsair 750W PSU 80+ Gold Rated

ASUS (I forget the model exactly) Monitor 1080p, 144Hz

No overclocks applied other than setting the DOCP on the ram to get the 3000Mhz.

The issue: the game drops to unbearable FPS after awhile of playing. It gets as low as 15 sometimes. It's so bad it's hard to click around to place buildings and roads in the correct places in a timely manner. THe FPS improves if I hover the camera over some empty water or land though.

I have made sure windows is updated, I have the latest NVIDIA drivers, and of course the game itself is updated. Today I changed the game settings all to as low as it will go. The issue remained. I have tried DX11 and 12, no changes. Ive tried full screen, windowed and borderless windowed modes. I ran hardware monitor and task manager to look at temps and nothing is out of the ordinary there. Max temps are like 60c for both CPU and GPU.

However the usage of CPU and GPU are odd. In a CPU intensive title like anno 1800, I would expect my CPU to have higher utilization, but it sits around 20%-30%. GPU is even lower at 10%-20%. I have made sure to change the setting in the NVIDIA Control panel to prefer high performance.

The thing is, I don't really have many other games that are more CPU intensive like anno is. So it's hard to test. I have Civ 5, let me know if that game would be something good to test with. But on other games like Doom Eternal, Assassins Creed, Apex Legends, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA 5, ect. All run pretty great for long periods of time at high settings without a hitch.

I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I am getting faster RAM (3600Mhz) here soon, it's literally in the mail, although I don't expect that to help drastically. I also plan to upgrade to a Zen 3 CPU when they're available for MSRP. But for right now, my system specs seem more than good enough to run this game at 1080p low settings. I really don't care about getting 100+ FPS on high settings or anything like that at this point. I just want the game to run normally lol

I'm open to basically any suggestions for troubleshooting. I can and will upgrade my computer in the future but I don't think that's my issue right now considering I am already running the lowest settings the game has available.

What's interesting is my roommate who I play anno with has a somewhat "lower spec" computer with a ryzen 5 3600, and a RX 580 4GB VRAM. Not completely sure what settings he's running in the game but his frame rates are somewhat stable and don't ever drop below 30.

Any suggestions are appreciated. I'd rather not play too much with overclocking because I'm not very familiar with it and I don't have that great of a CPU cooler, it's the one that came with the CPU.

    Artisans and canned food

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 01:14 AM PST

So I've just unlocked artisans and they need canned food. I've colonised another island which has red pepper fertility, and my question is: Do I need to unlock artisans on the newly colonised island in order to get the red peppers produced? Only the red pepper fields, that is.

    Help appreciated!

    Multiple monitor supported?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 02:08 PM PST

I have 2 monitors and a nvidia card

So it set the two monitors up with nvidia surround.

But I am curious why I have black bars on main menu which looks apparently like the resolution of one monitor displayed in the middle of them both.

What am I doing wrong? I set up the right resolution in Anno settings to 5120 p x 1440.

    Can somebody help?

I am aware of the problems you might get when you use 2 instead of 3 monitors. But for anno or same type of games it should be ok. Neither shooter.
