Wouldn’t be great to turn ON new content (purchased DLCs) anytime during your current playthrough?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 11:13 AM PDT

Wouldn't it be great to turn ON new content (purchased DLCs) anytime during your current playthrough?

    TL;DR

I don't understand why we have a system, which punishes players (like an exam), who just want to play the game with DLCs they bought before.

Why are the players even able to make such mistakes (via ignoring pop-up windows) which prevents them from playing content they paid for?

    ---------

yes, you will see a "once in a lifetime" pop-up window after purchasing new DLC, but why only once? I've spent hours today reading forums about so many players disregarding this. (yeah, "silly me, I better start reading messages and blah, blah, blah") and people who are disappointed that they didn't turn all the DLCs on, when they first launched a new scenario.

But here is the thing. Anno 1800 is a very complex and overwhelming sandbox with module style DLCs. You can turn DLCs on and off when starting a new game. And you can turn on new DLC right after purchase. So there is no compatibility issue with you current save game, or technical issue, or balance issue. (It's a simple new quest which will give you a possibility to explore new region (Passage, Land of Lines, etc.) Even with Docklands which turns an entire economy upside down, there is no problem to add it anytime.

Probably, here on reddit, most Anno players are very hardcore folks, they play with all DLCs and wouldn't even imagine reasons not to turn some of them %) I would like to share my quick story:

I enjoyed vanilla Anno 1800. Next time I played was right after Season 1. That was lovely 80 hours or something. But I remember how constantly overwhelmed I was with all of the content, expeditions, regions and everything. Constant pressure, which I didn't enjoy. I owned Season 2. This month I bought Season 3 and decided for a fresh start. But I wanted to have a relaxed and smooth game, so I turned some of the content off, which I didn't like before. (Botanica, and for some reason Sunken Treasures) Yeah, I was so fool, to turn off the main region, because I thought it's only about expeditions and diving. *sigh*

Here I am at my current 60+ hours playthrough, searching internet about ways to turn on Sunken Treasures. There isn't one! Because I purchased Sunken Treasures back in 2019. And I didn't pay attention to the game settings several weeks ago. Yesterday I purchased "Deluxe" version, to get access to Anarchist storyline, and of course, there is no option to turn it on in my current save file.

I have to either throw away my 60 hours of gameplay start brand new campaign with Sunken Treasures and Anarchist, or continue to play without the content for which I paid and stupidly didn't turn on at some point in the past.

But here is another funny moment:

    · Since I own Season 3, when "Tourist Season" will come out, I will launch the game, I will see the pop-up, and it wouldn't be a problem for the game to add new content to my current play session. (no compatibility, no balance, no issues at all)

    · If I haven't purchased Season 1 back in 2019 (to support the game developer for an awesome game) I would be able to purchase Sunken Treasures today. I would launch the game, see pop-up window, and be able to enjoy this content. Again, no problem =)

So, I am even ready to deactivate Sunken Treasures from my account somehow, purchase this DLC again, to get this freaking pop-up window.

    TL;DR

I don't understand why we have a system, which punishes players who just want to play the game with DLC's.

Why are the players even able to make such mistakes (via ignoring pop-up windows) which prevents them from playing content they paid for?

    Thank you.

p.s. It's my first time on reddit, so sorry for my English, and if I wrote this in the wrong topic. Take care

How do mods work? Do you need a fresh save to start using them? Any that are widely recommended?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 05:51 AM PDT

If its possible to install mods and start using on an existing save, is that save now bound to those mods? I.e. I cannot uninstall the mods or I corrupt the save?

I probably don't want too much changing gameplay at this time, I am still pretty new to the game and havent even built Crown Falls yet, been to Arctic or the desert places yet. But I do think the ornaments and trees are severely lacking in the game and would like to expand my choices for that.

Regarding the best Music Sheets for full Zoo, Museum and Garden plus two other question.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 11:34 PM PDT

Do people equip every item including duplicates to the max for the Zoo, Museum and Garden or just the sets. Also which music sheet works best for a full set of Zoo, Museum and Garden?

Also would Mme. Elise "The Nose" Bouquet effect stack if I had two or three on a island to increase the chance for better visitors?

Lastly which is the best naval combat vessel in the game to equip best naval items to?

Found this old posts not sure if up to date for the land of lions dlc new items?

Mods that add modules to existing buildings?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 07:55 PM PDT

    Hello there,

I am currently exploring the agricultural dlc for the first time, and I really love it. Nothing feels more satisfying then tidying up a whole islands production with tractors and silos in the later mid-game.

So I was wondering, are there any good mods you guys know, that add the these kind of modular extensions to existing buildings?

To give some examples of what I mean, here are some ideas of mine that I think could work in the game:

    • additional oil storage for power plants.

    • more power extensions for power plants which enhance their reach or enhances the effect of electricity (at the cost of more oil)

    • little markets that have to be placed in range of the original marketplace and function as smaller relay stations that enhance a marketplaces reach.

    • something like silos and tractors for water based production like fish

And I'm sure that other people can come up with way better ideas :)

So yeah, anything like that out there?

cannot take over islands, need help.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 07:53 PM PDT

Hey, i got a weird issue in my coop game. We are playing a coop game with four of us playing as a single business. We were recently trying to invade and take over some islands from the AI players and when we defeat their defences and the popup to conquer the island comes up. We click "conquer" but it only gives us shares instead of giving us the whole island. What are we doing wrong here?

We even tried doing a hostile takeover via shares but it wont give us the islands. It just resets the timer. We are really stumped as to why we cannot take islands anymore.

Anyone got any ideas? Any help would be amazing <3s in advance.

    Strange Stuttering Issue

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 05:55 PM PDT

I noticed a strange bug when the mouse hovers over anything that you can select. Once it lights up around the button in the main menu or in-game with houses or ships, the FPS drops to like 5-20fps.

Usually, I get like 120 fps, DX11/DX12 and VSync on/off don't matter, it's the same no matter what I change.

My specs are Ryzen 1800X, 32GB RAM, and a 1070Ti, with all the latest drivers. It usually shouldn't have any problem with this game, since I get high FPS normally. The bug starts happening after a while of playing and only a complete reboot fixes it, just not completely. Another thing to mention would be that I have the steam version, that requires both UbiConnect and Steam to run (not sure if this is any relevant anymore.) The stupid thing is, the GPU sits at around 20% of usage when the lag happens once the mouse hovers over something and it even lags videos (and their sound) and other things running on a second monitor, but this only happens with Anno 1800.

I haven't played 1800 in a long time and since then got a Freesync/GSync Monitor by now, but I doubt it's an issue with that.

Does anyone have a fix for that?

Don’t suppose anyone cares to do a CO-OP game of Anno 1800?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 02:25 PM PDT

As the title says - not opposed to PvP just not a competitive person when playing games, there to relax not worry about a war with another player.

Ironically enough I do leave pirates on and some medium AI to at least give the sense of competition...

    Performances issues

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 01:25 PM PDT

Anyone feels the performances/optimization is worse than ever ? I have a 1080ti and it even affects the UI to a point where I frequently missclick and place or delete the wrong things.

    Any info or potential solution?
