Which anno 1800 to buy?

Hi all!
Im looking for a new game to play and stumble on anno 1800.
The game looks nice to me, i already did some research.
However, i do not completly understand the meaning of seasons. Are these patches? DLC'S?
Normaly i buy my games on G2A.com.
When i search anno 1800 over there i see difference versions;
Anno 1800 (S1) €19,-
Anno 1800 (S2) €17
Anno 1800 (S3) €15
Anno 1800 complete €49,99
For a new/noobie like me, is it worth to buy the complete version or should i start with S1?
Is the game 'out of date' when you only play S1?
