Far East would be interesting thematically, but what should it bring mechanically?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 06:54 AM PDT

I am one of those that love the idea of a "complete" anno 1800 experience. A big piece of that would be a robust expansion that includes asia.

However even if it would be charming, if the new session doesn't bring anything mechanically it will in the end feel pointless.

    • enbesa gave us research
    • new world is a vital step for development and oil
    • arctic gave us gas and airships
    • crown falls gave us the largest island and diving

What could a new session give us that would persistently remain interesting? And what new sorts of challenges could it give?

I am genuinely curious what remains. For me personally I think of:

    • A new character ai, some sort of character that really threatens you. This is undermined by combat not being so fun, so perhaps it would race towards certain milestones? Like it would compete with you in building the world's fair, tower, population counts, etc. So it poses no threat towards you but serves as a fun rival, a sort of stimuli for players who want to benchmark themselves. With tons of achievements tied in.

    • Disasters. Long since requested but i dunno how to make it fun, i am one of those who feel it more to be a nuisance than contributing much.

    • Create your own newspaper perhaps? With a modular newspaper building. A deeper interaction with the newspaper basically.

    • We don't have any real interaction with lower levels of the population. Perhaps farmers, workers, artisans etc could develop tastes for far East goods? Rioting if they dont get their tea? A deeper interaction with happiness.

    • More money stuff. Perhaps the big currency to get closer to the shogun would be vast quantities of money? Probably exists more ways to make money interesting. Perhaps you will finance the suez canal to make trade possible? A momentous and enormously expensive project.

Is it worth getting started in the series by buying Anno 1800 vanilla edition?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 12:48 AM PDT

The other day I bought Tropico 6. I was playing a couple of missions and I didn't like it very much. Then I was watching some streamers playing Anno 1800 and it seemed similar to Tropico, but different enough in terms of politics and diplomacy to interest me. I also saw that its treatment of production chains and resources is more complex and deeper than Tropico. It gave me the feeling of being somewhat Factorio-is, which i found quite interesting.

Is it worth buying Anno 1800 without DLC to test if it might interest me, or is there any DLC that is highly recommended to purchase? The price of the vanilla edition is a very appealing price, but the editions with 1, 2 or all the season passes seem to me already very expensive.

And a sligthly more complex question, if Tropico didn't turn out to be what I expected, is Anno different enough?

Which reward do I receive if I help Hugo and which one if I help the crown? I can't find this information anywhere.

    Totally new to series

    Hello,

Ive never played any Anno games. Is there a place to find a rundown on all the different Anno games and best/worst parts of each and perhaps rankings?

Which is best to start with as a newcomer? Are older titles worse than newer ones? I assume the older titles are much cheaper, especially during sales.

Post your new Hacienda Farm Setup for Tuesday's Patch

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 11:53 AM PDT

With the new Fertilizer ration supplying 10 farms, what's everyone's favorite setup going to be?

I worked out an even +100% ratio with a trade union (+40% all crops/+35% all crops/+25% all crops and cigars every 25th cycle).

All I need is 1 Fuel Depot, and 2 Fertilizer works and 18 farms can produce the output of what exactly 150 farms could produce before. Plus they produce the cigar output of 3 fully operational cigar factories (6 cigars every minute). 100 +200 +100 +100 =500. Multiplied by 1.666 for having 2 extra goods every third cycle = 833.33% efficiency.

That cigar item seemed pretty "Meh" before, but with the insane output in a small space for Hacienda farms, it seems to have new life.

The only thing I'm sad about is that a farm with a tractor could be made into a perfectly even rectangle. I'm not sure if we can get anything so perfectly symmetrical when adding the Fertilizer Silo.

I'm sure there's more efficient outputs but that's what I came up with on my first theory.

Is "sunken treasures" required for other DLC?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 10:47 AM PDT

Hi, i want to get back in to 1800, just got Season Pass 3/4. I would like to play without Cap Trelawny and therefore without "Sunken Treasures" DLC active. Do other DLC require this to work properly or can i play without it? - i just don't want to find out after 50 hours into it.

    Copy Trade Routes

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 03:04 PM PDT

Adding to my wish list: Being able to copy trade routes

Don't know if this would be difficult to do but it would be great help. Even better, being able to also choose to copy the goods in the trade routes or choose another one...

    What production on Crown Falls?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 12:13 AM PDT

I just wonder which productions I should build on the island so that I will still have space in the long term.
