Conquered island looked naked so I used dozens of lumber huts to regrow it into forest.

I'm sure Anno1404 had option to put down trees without a 'base' like the ones in Anno1800 do. So the only way I can find to regrow natural looking trees is to use dozens of lumberjack huts. And with the nakedness of islands after you conquer them, it's nice to grow back a bit of natural green. So far so good..

I did the same thing in the New Work to fill in the naked patches, and then just destroyed the lumber huts.

ANNO’s Problem with Electricity and how to fix it...

    Posted: 25 Sep 2019 05:53 AM PDT

I've been digging into the time period of ANNO 1800 and one thing that's stuck with me is the games lack of development regarding electricity and it's generation.

During the industrial revolution coal was the power source that kept the world turning, it was used in everything from power plants, home fires to warships.

Then we discovered oil, the world changed.... Our warships could accelerate faster, carry more weapons, we could produce electricity with less hassle and our lighting systems became modernised.

But the game ignores this change, instead we leap frog from the medieval times (Artisan) to peak industrial performance (oil power plant).

I suggest the game implements a more bountiful supply of coal, readily available on all islands via a mine or charcoal kiln. We could power our industries with ease... but it would have its drawbacks. 1. Limited range compared to oil 2. Ships constructed at a shipyard powered by coal would have lower stats than oil powered shipyard vessels. 3. Higher pollution for your island. Increased smog and higher chance of illness among citizens.

Then we should be able to access the worlds very limited oil reserves later in the engineer or investor tree. Imported from the new world only, it could be used for 1. More efficient power plants: say 300% production boost not 200% with coal.
    2. Buffs for vessels built at a shipyard powered by oil. E.g. improved speed, larger cargo holds of 70 not 50. 3. Reduced pollution from power plants. Or giving the ability to move the power plant out of your city centres due to an increased range.

Finding oil should be a game changer, but only in one or two ways. There isn't enough oil to have all of the above buffs, so you the player have to allocate your resources...

Will you let your citizens suffer in the smog for an advanced navy? Or will you have a mighty industry powered by oil?

    Just my thoughts.

Those alerts about taking a break seemed stupid at first, but damn i know why it's there.

I've been spending every hour of my time when im not asleep or at school playing this game, i have 29 hours playtime and i only had it for 2,5 days. I don't know what to do when my uplay+ trial runs out, especially since it's not on steam.

    Playable with a controller?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2019 05:03 AM PDT

So I'm thinking of getting Anno when it will be released on Stadia (otherwise I'll get it for pc, Just holding off buying new games) But even if I get it for pc, i'd like to play it with the steam controller.

Anyone here have experience playing anno1800 with a controller?

I've played other Anno(and Port royale) games with the steam controller, and it was fine. Just took some time to adjust and get used to the controls. But this Anno seems a bit more complex in regards to management and controls.

    Anno 1800 Koop Testing

    Posted: 25 Sep 2019 03:32 AM PDT

Me and my girlfriend registered for the Koop testing.

Unlucky by the time we didn't receive any notification if we got "accepted" or not.

Did anyone yet get invited ? Or is this no message thing just a unfriendly decline ?

Does Anno 2070 multiplayer still work?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2019 12:33 AM PDT

I was playing Anno 1800 (awesome game) which reminded me of Anno 2205 (I like it too) which in turn reminded me of Anno 2070 (which i also liked) and was wondering if multiplayer still works ... wanted to play with a friend of mine.

    So?

Sharing results for Anno 1800 performance with Old-Vs-New CPU

    Posted: 24 Sep 2019 09:36 PM PDT

Hello, I recently updated some of my rig and recorded some results before and after on Anno 1800, when I was looking I couldn't find much information for how different CPU's effect the performance in this game, I hope my results help give you an idea. This test is nowhere near as in-depth as it could be but it will give you a general idea.

For this test I went to one of my older worlds with lots of people, set a camera #1 position to the F1 key, save the game then press F1. The camera will then go to the saved position, hide the HUD and rotate around slowly and endlessly.

Images of test here --> https://imgur.com/a/nhD3mnT

    The results are:
Old system 41 to 49 fps
New system 52 to 64 fps
the lowest number is taken from when the fps reached the lowest number per rotation and the same with the highest number. So on average there was a 25% improvement from the test.

Here are the specs of the old and new system, some parts are unchanged such as the GPU and storage devices but don't worry the game+GPU settings is set to the same on both systems (there was no operating system reinstall when upgrading).

    New System:
    CPU: 9700k @ 5GHZ all-core 1.380v (AVX -2, Still trying to increase to 5.2Ghz).
MOBO: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS MASTER (A pretty high end overclocking motherboard).
RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3600Mhz CL16 (SKHynix, I wanted to get samsung B-Die but cbf researching forever to find some).
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW3 Hybrid (AIO watercooled, never throttles, Holds boost @ 1949mhz).
CPU Cooler: NZXT kraken X61 (I got a x62 but had to RMA after DOA :( Still waiting).
    Case: Noctis 450 Black.
    Boot Drive: M.2 Samsung 256gb 950 PRO, Win-10-Pro.
Game Drive: Sata SSD Samsung 4TB 860 QVO.
    PSU: Silverstone 1000w Platinum.
    + a bunch more SSD's and HDD's that don't effect this test

    Old System:
    CPU: 6700k @ 4.5GHZ all-core 1.392v (AVX stable).
    MOBO: Fatal1ty Z170 Professional Gaming i7.
    RAM: 32GB G.Skill 4x8GB 3000Mhz CL15.
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW3 Hybrid (AIO watercooled, never throttles, Holds boost @ 1949mhz).
    CPU Cooler: NZXT kraken X61.
    Case: Noctis 450 Black.
    Boot Drive: M.2 Samsung 256gb 950 PRO, Win-10-Pro.
Game Drive: Sata SSD Samsung 4TB 860 QVO.
    PSU: Silverstone 1000w Platinum.
