Man the New Statistics Screen is Good

Before this patch I felt like I'd never seen a game so badly in need of a line graph. But they really went above and beyond. I thought it would only be useful late in the game when you have 500 things to keep track of and you don't want to miss running out of schnapps and a farmer rebellion. However, even in the early game seeing production vs consumption means I no longer hugely overproduce then underproduce fish and clothing. It's really made the game better.

For the love of God - please give single players active pause

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 10:44 AM PST

There is way too much to keep track of now. I mean, it was bad enough before any DLC was even released. Now with all the extra stuff it's practically not fun trying to manage so many islands at once. There's no reason we can't do stuff when the game is paused - or outside of that, give us a half-speed option.

Multi-Copy is literally a game changer

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 10:54 PM PST

I've played previous Anno games before but always got to a fairly janky end game and then given up because the effort of moving things around was too much. This is where multi-copy has changed my life by making things easy and getting me back into the game. Multi-copy should have been in the game from the start and is amazing. I just reached investors and it's saving me so much time. I'm really enjoying things now that I can blueprint and move things around easily before plonking then down. If you gave up on Anno 1800 before, now is the perfect time to try it out again. Now to get to the Arctic!

Is the passage dlc worth 15bucks?

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 09:39 AM PST

So I got sunken treasure and it was pretty neat, but I'm still not sold on this one, it seems a bit small for the amount asked. Could you guys tell me why I should/shouldn't buy it?

Free Week - A fair warning to everyone considering it for trying out COOP.

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 12:26 PM PST

I went about reading when me and my friend who owns 1800 couldn't get invitations to work while hosting a new MP-game for some COOP. Turns out that's not possible. Because he owns the game and I don't. So my whole incentive for testing out the free week, and possibly ending up buying the game is gone.

    This from a ubi-site:

Furthermore, you can only play with participants of the free week in multiplayer.
If you own Anno 1800 but want to play with a friend during the free week, you will have to download and install the game client for the free week.

    This alone boggles the mind:

Will I keep my progress when upgrading to the full of the game?

You will not be able to continue your save game when you play the full version of the game.

Are there prerequisites for the Passage expedition to become active?

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 11:57 AM PST

I have the dlc and am currently on a save that is only up to artisans. I had 4 expeditions and am completing one one. I have not received the passage expedition. Wondering if I have to do something to trigger it. I have the dlc active on this save.

[Glitch] My fleet became a hivemind

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 09:52 AM PST

NSFW: 4 letter words in use. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/520113509

there's a few things that I don't notice on stream, but will point out.

At one time the fleet is on the north edge of the Old World, and eventually completes a transfer from there to the Arctic. However I zoom to the World View and you can see the 26 ships are transferring from Cape Trelawny to the Old World.

Also, while I focused on one large set of ships, the glitch was affecting any ships nearby to a ship that transferred regions. EG at one point I ordered a ship that was previously unaffected by the glitch to join a trade route in a different region. Two ships that were physically close to this ship abandoned their own trade routes to transfer regions.

The glitch ships also never went to port, as a ship does when it enters a new region. Instead they would arrive in the new region and then sit at the very edge of the map. I don't think I included any instances of this happening in my video above.

Every ornament of the Holiday Pack DLC in one picture

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 01:14 PM PST

Been playing the trail for the whole day, here is my opinion.

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 08:31 AM PST

First I want to say this is my first "Anno" game.

    second,
The images do not do this game justice only shows the menu and how the world looks. I am guessing the screenshots of the game are a lot more familiar to players who already know the franchise I for once did not know what I was looking at until I got into the game.

    third,
The game is not as complex as I thought it feels "casual" (Not like CIV but complex in its own way). again I was on the trail version so I do not know what I missed and have not tried different scenarios.

overall I am enjoying the game and wondered if theres a "good" reason to get the version with the season pass (GOLD) I mean there is a sell now, but will I need that content to enjoy Multiplayer sessions? or even single player? In CIV DLCs wouldn't let you join session online if you dont own them and most of them were scenarios so I never bought them..

will be buying the basic version 100% since the price is appealing and the game is awesome.

A way to get Spiceitup mods working with patch 6 and The Passage

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 08:47 PM PST

After reading as much as I could find about the compatibility of the Spiceitup mods with the new update (patch 6) I have tried the procedure outlined below which has worked very well.

    1. Create a restore point in Windows (just in case)

    2. Clear the contents of the cache folder in the Spiceitup mod folder (make a copy & delete the 'data' folder contained there) located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Anno 1800

    3. Remove (copy & delete) the two python files used by the Spiceitup mod-loader, python35.dll and python35_ubi.dll located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Anno 1800\Bin\Win64

    4. Replace these two python files with the original python35.dll from the Anno game files.
(I made a copy of this file before changing it when I first installed Spiceitup, i.e. I did not simply overwrite the original – if this is not an option, try deleting the python files and then verify your files at Uplay which should re-install the original python file)

    5. After this preparation, update the game at Uplay.

    6. Test this by starting, saving and exiting a new game to see if the updated features are available and also the save function. If so, proceed.

    7. Replace the python35.dll with the Spiceitup python files - python35.dll and python35_ubi.dll taken from the 2.6 version of Spiceitup (in the same way you did when first installing or updating Spiceitup).

Following this procedure, I have managed to update the game files with patch 6 and get the game working with the mods from Spiceitup operational. Be aware that the game launch will be slow the first couple of times - just as it was when you first installed Spiceitup.

Pre-conditions (or things to watch out for)

    1. I have used the 0.7.3 version of the mod-loader (apparently version 0.7.4 can be a problem – see https://discordapp.com/channels/578443209940926465/585948301698793475) You may need to open an account here first but Meow is responding to questions there.

    2. I have used the first mod folder provided by Spiceitup (2.5?), not the latest version (2.6). I didn't like the zoom function as much and I can't get no influence costs to work in 2.6. There is a mod in the 2.6 version - 'AI Shipyard' that causes problems and possibly others too (embassy?). Deactivating this mod seems to work if you wish to use 2.6 but I haven't tested this.

I think by returning the game to its unmodified state before doing the update has enabled this procedure to work and it isn't difficult to re-install the mod afterwards. This procedure has enabled patch 6 and The Passage both in a new game and saved games. I am really pleased to get the statistics information window in a late-game save.

Hope this helps all who like the Spiceitup mod but are having problems with the latest patch and DLC.

    The Passage : (Spoilers/rant/opinion) Thats...it?

    Posted: 11 Dec 2019 08:58 AM PST

OK I just finnish new DLC story line, it was quite nice -nothing suprising and make you go throw mechancis of the Passage. So thats plus.

But except of this - thats it? Ubisoft said The Passage is our biggest session yet -mayby - but 72 % is water and ice, 22% is storm part of map and rest is somehow habitable/actual gameplay space.

Dont get me wrong, I like new visuals, new buldings and airships tech and new collections for museum and zoo. But there are so little place to actually build there, to actually play -with, once again, no communer pier (same as in tropic islands) -each and every island need people on it with their own need futfilled for them -and there isnt enough space. Not mention that you must build actual city to farm gas - 250 engis, or how they are called, for one pump with 0 ability to lower needed population (even yes, you can boost your own pop with influence bulding and new craftable stuff from crazy inventor guy). Of course this offer big and nice challenge of suppling everything from other parts of map and regions via ships and airships... but its simply to small to really play and build a lot. Its similiar to anno 2205 artic -where there was BIG spaces but you fill all special places (in 1800 is bottle neck the shores and how many whale/seal catcher you can build) too really use it all. Now we dont even have those big empty places.

Simply put Passage feel really small compare to first "lets get crazy and build whatever" region we get with Sunken treasure. But then its bigger then Botanica....

So is it worth it? Yes, its nice part of Anno 1800. Its great? No not really. Its will keep you/me for several hours to get all right, take over the map and make enough airships and gas "farms" to power up your cities at south. But still feel small - even more if you play on full sandbox mode (either without enemies from start or late game when enemies are no more and you have most island taken and several hundreads of millions in account)
