New game - revealed map vs not revealed

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 08:46 AM PDT

I tend to most of the time just reveal the map because it's not really a question as to if or if the NPC's already don't know where they are going and what islands have what resources.

I mean as far as the RP aspect or just making it more difficult yea ok fine but for me most of the time I just start games with a revealed map. Anyone else?

Hopefully Game Update 9 will include bug fixes for the common quest bugs.

A lot of quests, especially ones for the multi-part AI storylines, end up bugging out and being impossible to complete.

This includes ships not spawning for destruction or escort quests, quests meant for your own islands appearing on AI islands, and quest rewards being Thanos snapped out of existence.

Hopefully Ubi is aware of these and will fix them because having a big storyline suddenly end due to a ship not spawning on the map is very demoralizing.

Finite Resources in 1404 History Edition

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 03:04 AM PDT

Hi everyone, first post on this sub.

I bough the 1404 history edition on steam a few days ago and im having a lot of fun. I come from mostly playing 1503 so 1404 is my childhood all over again.

however in my continuous game i realized that some resources like quarried stone and bear pelts are finite and used up quite quickly so i will run out of resource very soon and cant continue that game properly.

Is there any way to replenish these resources like the other ones (like coal or brine and iron)?is there some kind of file editor or patch that would fix this issue?

    Cheers

EDIT: I found out the resource in Pelts and Quarries can be refilled too, but you have to do it on the collection Building and not the Source (Cave and Rocks) itself. Sorry for the Confusion!

Gotta rant about 1800 for a bit

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 07:20 AM PDT

It's a struggle to get this game to click for me, or rather I have a lot of trouble getting to end game. My brain implodes when it has to rethink optimal placement, trade needs, money issues and making use of a tiny amount of space. So you know, typical anno issues.

Lately I've been going for a chartered company attempt. Doing the campaign for this - ideal world settings, but low income and influence, plus Alonzo, Carl and Anarchist are the AIs. It went really well for a while - bought all the shares from Alonzo and Anarchists main island for about 11k profit, and without it I'd barely be in the black. I reached engineers, had about 6 SOTL and about 6 frigates, and finally had the mats to set up the electricity network.

And then Alonzo declared war. Things were ok in the old region, but my navy pretty much abandoned the new region. He hit prosperity and then I lost. Apparently losing prosperity makes you lose the campaign. Now I just feel flat.

Naturally I'll reload to an earlier save - I'm getting that investor portrait damn it and I'm pretty sure I'm close. I'd like to know how you lot handle the military aspect, especially when wind could delay a defense force from reaching somewhere under siege.

Edit: Went back about an hour or two. Got to investors but I didn't get chartered company. What gives? What's the 0/7 supposed to signify? https://imgur.com/mr4I5hh

So this is the next Anno game - announced at Gamescom. Um, what?

Is there any mod that unlocks Investor instant building like it was the case in earlier Annos?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 04:43 PM PDT

I remember for example as soon as you had Aristocrats in 1503 you could build them instantly without upgrading. Is there any mod out there that can do this? Thanks

Request Trade Rights with other player

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 12:26 PM PDT

I am Profile Level 5 and have a population of just over 1,620.

I am in a game with another player and we are having difficulty requesting and accepting trade rights with one another.

We have tried this by going Diplomacy > Player > Treaties > Request Trade Rights, but nothing happens after selecting it. The button simply disables for a few moments before becoming available again. Neither of us have been receiving notifications or warnings for it. Still unable to trade with one another.

Anyone had any similar problems, or know why this might be happening? Cheers.
