Only City designing or not possible..

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 02:58 AM PST

    Hi,

Have checked Reddit and Google, and havent found a 100% answer on the question can you make the game just as a City Designer and dont care to gameplay and functionality... I have seen there are some mods there help towards this, but ain't sure if these make it possible or only somewhat possible..

    Thanks in advance,

    Mo'

Anno 1800 Ancient Labyrinth expedition bug testing

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 09:36 AM PST

After getting stuck on this bug and having to roll back saves several times over the past few days and seeing a lot of conflicting information I decided to make a save before doing the event and do as much testing on it as I could bear today.

This will not help anyone who has a ship currently stuck on the map screen at the end of the event. The devs will have to fix that, but it might be helpful data to have before doing the event.

I haven't done enough testing to identify what step or path in the labyrinth, if any, triggers the bug.

I haven't done enough testing to completely rule out random chance. The loading screens are long and I only have so much patience.

    With that said and disclaimed,

    Results:

    • Choosing all top choices: 10/10 success rate (ended event successfully with no map bug).
    • Choosing all top choices except "Flee, fools" (bottom) at the very end: 5/5 success rate.
I wanted to test if the final choice was decisive as some have suggested. It appears not.
    • Choosing all bottom choices: 10/10 failure (bug triggered, stuck on map at end screen).
    • Choosing various semi-random paths: 8 failures, 2 successes.

    Conclusions:

    1. It's possible to get through, so if you get the Ancient Labyrinth event, exit out and make a save before proceeding so you can try multiple times without losing progress if you encounter it.
    2. Choosing the top answers (Humble passage, Swan Door, etc) every time appears to consistently work, at least for me in this case, and will get you through with no morale loss. There is a hunting check in that path and I don't know what happens if you fail it, so making sure each expedition ship has a hunter might be a good idea.
    3. If you want to send out expeditions and take minimum risk with shortest possible rollbacks if you get stuck you can exit out of each event and make a save at the end point when it asks you if you want to give extra rations, no rations or send the ship home. If you then later get stuck you can load a save from the last event and send the ship home. You'll fail the expedition and lose a couple of minutes of progress, but it's better than getting a ship (probably a big expensive one with awesome items) stuck in limbo until this is patched.

Again, this is not in any way conclusive. I'll keep sending out expeditions and if I end up with contradicting data on later events I'll report back but this is at least something and I felt it was worth sharing.

What are some QoL improvements you still want to see in Anno 1800?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:11 PM PST

One thing I personally think would be very practical, is an overview within the expedition screen, that shows which bonuses and traits the currently loaded items/goods provide for the expedition. Especially with the larger ships and legendary items I find it a bit difficult to keep track of the exact values for each category.

Edit: I just thought of another one: warehouses increase the island storage (even more with every upgrade)

Is there a way to avoid the bugged expedition? (Anno 1800)

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:37 PM PST

I lost my best ship and amazing peeps when the expedition suddenly brought up the Land of Lions quest series. Is there a way to make sure this doesn't happen again?
