How to get NPC extensive Metroplis quests in Anno 1404 Venice?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 10:10 AM PST

I have been playing Anno 1404 Venice Imperator scenario for quite a while now (21 hours). I have built a city with over 5500 noblemen so far and have allied all the NPCs but they are not giving me the extensive Metropolia quests needed for certain achievements. So far, I have only got two 'normal' quests from the NPCs. What do I need to do to get the extensive achievement quests?

Guide for which items to use in TU's, how to lower workforce requirements etc.

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:48 AM PST

    Hi all.

Been playing Anno 1800 for a while, and was also an avid fan of Anno 1404. I know how TU's work etc, but I've yet to come across any guide that can glow some light on which items are the best to use, and how to get said items.

I also came across a video where I could see the guy apparently used some items lowering the workforce needed drastically, to basically none, especially in The New World. How is this done?

I've tried to google guides, going through the Fandom page etc, but to little avail.

    Thank in advance
    Dozer.

Anno 1800 - how long is the campaign?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:11 AM PST

New to Anno series and picked up 1800 complete. How long is the campaign / story mode? I did some expeditions that opened up new maps, so wondering how long it'd take to complete all this content.

    Getting rid of AI

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 04:07 AM PST

I finished the campaign and now went into the sandbox mode,

my question is now can I get rid of the Ai but taking over all their islands? So far I discovered the New World and Enbesa, but I own all DLC.

    Anno 1800 not starting

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 03:34 AM PST

I played this just 3 hours ago. All was well.

I now decided to start the game again and its no longer working.

When i start the game it tries to sync with achivements and cloud saves. It says that its unable to sync the achievements but when syncing saves doesnt say anything and the window dissapears in a few seconds (i assume it synced succesufuly)

Once the save sync window closes nothing else happens .

The game doesnt launch. I can see it in the task manager but its only using 5 MB or ram and doesnt increase. 0 CPU usage.

    I tried the following:

    Rebooted my pc

    Restarted ubisoft connect

Verified the game files (all was ok)

Waited up to 30 minutes after pressing play, nothing happened.

My internet connection is working fine in case anyone was wondering (i wrote this post on the same pc)

    What gives?

    What is the "maindata"?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2021 06:18 AM PST

So, I currently have very tiny space left on my PC's drive. When looking at all of my stuff I figured that the "maindata" folder of Anno 1800 ist BY FAR the biggest I have. I got curious so I searched in hope to find out what the maindata is but all I found was modding tutorials.
Maybe some of you can tell me (and maybe if I can somehow minimize the space it takes away)

Profile have been reset in Anno 1404 History Edition

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 11:59 PM PST

I got Anno 1404 History edition through Steam. One day I ran the game, and all my settings and profile have been reset to defaults. I resorted to recovering the profile via Windows in-built restore points. I lost a week of gameplay achievements but could continue playing with my custom keybinds (I changed almost all hotkeys to suit my style). Today I tried to fix the old "corrupted" profile: I copied current profile in a secure place beforehand. Once finished experimenting, I returned the copied profile back to %APPDATA%\Ubisoft\Anno1404\Profiles. However, now that profile does not work.

The game overrode my two profiles with an empty default profile (same ID and steam name). Again, I resorted to restoring old profile through Windows recovery. I extracted good and bad profiles via RDAExplorer to compare them. I could not find anything unusual. Of course, they have different MessageAuthenticationCode/SumCheck/MaxCheck/MinCheck (these are tags in the XML).

Now the strange thing: the game does not see even backup profiles (actually it deletes them and recreates an empty profile).

I asked Ubisoft to fix the issue. Their answer was "our team never experienced this in testing".

Anno is such a great series. It is a common knowledge that the most sacred thing in a program is user's settings and saves. Unfortunately, Anno 1404 History Edition fails here.

If you ever experienced similar issues with profiles, please share tips on how to make the backed up profiles work again.

Any ideas for a balanced and fun 5 player online game experience?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 04:18 PM PST

So, about a month ago, I apparently successfully convinced my four friends to buy Anno so we could play multiplayer. One of us never played any Anno title or anything similar before, so we decided he should be in the same company (coop) with someone, our slots were like this:

    Slot 1: 1 player

    Slot 2: 1 player

    Slot 3: 2 players

    Slot 4: 1 player

This 2v1v1v1 format was great for the one inexperienced guy to get started with Anno and for the rest of us to get a feeling for the online mode, so it was all fine and fun.

In a late night session recently I accidently went bankrupt and basically got kicked out of the game so we talked about how we gonna get me back into the game by loading an early savegame but then we also thought about restarting in general, especially because that one friend now is a bit experienced and at least understands the basegame. This game was basically a testing game for us.

So now we are at a point where we would start a new online game but we are not really sure in which format and I'm pretty sure none of us wants to invest a huge chunk of time into a new endless game without knowing if it will be fair and balanced.

AFAIK the only possible combinations, as there are only 4 slots with either 4 players max or 1 AI per slot, are:

    Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4
    Combination 1 4 players 1 player AI/nothing AI/nothing
    Combination 2 3 players 2 players AI/nothing AI/nothing
    Combination 3 3 players 1 player 1 player AI/nothing
    Combination 4 2 players 2 players 1 player AI/nothing
    Combination 5 2 players 1 player 1 player 1 player

So with an odd number of players there are obviously no combinations where every slot has the same "size", so we either need some kind of handicap for the bigger team or some kind of roleplaying aspect in general. Like for example with combination 4, we could say that the solo player in slot 3 has some privileges the others don't have. Or maybe this player is put in the same "team" with the AI in slot 4 (teams are not the same as slots btw)? I really don't know what the best system would be here, so yeah, I just wanted to ask if anyone of you guys ran into a similar situation while trying to figure out a way to play with your friends.

A mod to solve some of these problems would also be awesome, but I didn't find one yet and don't think it's that easy to mod multiplayer. At least I found this moneyshare mod, which is already huge considering the roleplaying impact it can have. Like you could theoretically make some deals with other players to deliver them some goods every 30 minutes if they regularly pay you or something like that. Or for protection money mafia-like systems. :P

Why won't a trade route ship pick up all available inventory of an item?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 03:51 PM PST

I have a trade route set so a clipper goes from the New World to the Old World, shipping rum. The New World island has 148 rum, and the ship only needs 50. However, it loads 16 rum and then starts its trip back to the Old World. However, if I click on the trading post manually, I can easily load all 50 rum onto that ship.

Why won't it automatically take the available rum like it can if I manually drag over the items?

    Thanks for any ideas!

    World Fair Monuments

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 12:54 PM PST

I'm new to Anno 1800 and a little overwhelmed with every decoration and found an article about the "World's Fair Rewards". What concerns me is the number behind each decoration, like "World's Fair Pavillion x2". Does that mean you can only build 2 of these, cause i see some pictures of cities with more than just 2. Hope you can help me out there, thank u!
