Posted: 06 Feb 2021 08:44 AM PST The 1800's were an era of industrial revolution, excitement, technology... we all know that. But it also brought new engineering marvels in the metalworking industry, the most famous example being the Eiffel Tower finished in 1889. But what about... bridges ? Before the Eiffel Tower, the most known work from Gustave Eiffel was the Viaduc de Garabit, opening in 1888. 564m long, 122m high. Suspension bridges are also an option, like the famous Brooklyn Bridge, opening in 1883, 1825m long. Since the developers don't seem to care too much about historical accuracy (I mean, they're not stopping at 1800 precisely), what if we could build such bridges to link islands, just like 2205 ? The Brooklyn Bridge is more than suited to do so, considering its span and materials (more variety than the Viaduc de Garabit, so better for the gameplay) (of course it doesn't make sense on the engineering standpoint). It would work on a limited number of islands only (I thought maybe 2 or 3 bridges per session max), as it would require a special natural spot but it could be nice. But I'm afraid it would be quite redundant with 2205 and I don't think people loved the feature that much, did they ? That's just an idea and a spotlight for some less known architecture. edit : I was inspired by the mod that allows you to build the Eiffel Tower. [link] [comments] | ||

Oil harbor tip for oil trade routes Posted: 06 Feb 2021 05:19 AM PST So I usually have big chain routes. 1 oil route with 8 ships that pick up oil on 3 islands in the new world and deliver it to 4 islands in the old world. This works well enough for me as it's low maintenance and easy to troubleshoot. Now I was having plenty of ships, all filled up supplying not that much power plants, but still my last island in the chain in the new world didn't get enough oil. I added more ships, but nothing changed... Now what happened? Trains will sometimes take too much oil when they leave the harbor, then an oil tanker would fill the harbor to max, then the train comes back still carrying oil. The excess oil will disappear apparently. So this way I was losing hundreds of oil on a single island. I changed it so the oil tankers now deliver everything, but also pick as much as they can too. Then I set a minimum stock of 1000 or something when the max capacity is 1500-2000. This way when the train carrying too much oil returns it can just fill up the stock instead of the oil disappearing. I hope this makes sense, it took me a while to figure this out so I thought I'd share this. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 06 Feb 2021 10:12 AM PST Hey Anno Community, mea and a friend (together in one empire are facing a problem, where our opponent is attacking our ships and we just wanna play co-op and build a nice city. We do not have the possibilities to face his islands, because weve just entered Sunken Treasures and build up Crown Falls. Even with A battle cruiser and all my best items I can not get the success rate above 79% when starting my expeditions and I usually have to abort them before they finish. I'm actually at the end of my first game (in the sense that I have finished main missions in all regions, I know that there is a lot of things to do after that). I'm trying to design a beautiful and optimized city in Cape Trelawney. Engineers and investors need electricity, but I don't find realistic to have oil power plants and railways amid of their houses. In real world, people don't like having these buildings near of their homes... What are your opinions about this ? Do you have advices to build realistic neighborhoods ? At the moment there are soundtracks from previous Anno games in a Anno 1800 version available as music sheets. Why not extend this with other Ubisoft titles like for example "Ezios family" from Assassin's Creed 2 or one track from the many "The Settlers" games? [link] [comments] | ||

I have my main island, with multiple parallel tracks stemming from the oil harbor, which is fully upgraded, and only one train is out delivering oil on one side....while power plants are completely out on the other saying that i need to build parallel tracks. How to tell where I should deliver goods to? Posted: 06 Feb 2021 08:16 AM PST I have "the clueless courier" and need to deliver 10 non of your business, but I cant understand where im supposed to take it. In previous quests clicking on the quest would show me the destination. When clicking it showed me where to go to pick them up, I did, now clicking the quest does nothing. Timer is still ticking and I just have this item on my ship. Anyone know whats up? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 06 Feb 2021 02:45 AM PST Hello together, I recently started to play Anno 1800 again and it all worked great until i was like 20 hours in game(not in one session) and then my game suddendly starts to freeze every 10-15 minutes. I already tried to reduce the amount of saves and profiles, tried it in borderless fullscreen and also verified the game on Steam. Has anyone encountered a solution for this problem? Question about difficulty and mods Posted: 05 Feb 2021 06:21 PM PST I just played campaign story in expert with Mercier, Silva and Malching. It was nice game but easy. I mean I never ended up war with anyone. I just kept everyone happy and traded with them. In my game I didn't even unlock engineers yet. I was thinking to starting new game in sandbox. People recommended me Military mod. Have anyone played it? Do mod break save if new patch comes? If I play hundred hours in one game is there risk that mod will break my game? I mean if I continue my save game year later I don't want it to be broken because of mod. Do achievement work? Or would it be safer just play without mod with Mercier/Alonso?, Silva and Hunt? I'm also pretty sure that sandbox has more need for conflict because there is always more need for more islands than in campaign? In campaign I was lucky and I didn't need to take forcefully any islands. [link] [comments] |
