    NPCs in Cape Tralawney

Considering that the incoming expansion is the final one this post might seem pointless. But even if no such content ever comes out, at least we can have a friendly discussion. :-)

I mentioned the idea here and there in the comments under other posts, but I decided to gather it all into a single post.

Cape Tralawney feels empty to me because of the lack of neutral NPCs. Sure, I always leave a few small islands for AI players, so that I don't feel alone in the sector, but from the non-expanding players there's just Old Nate. I feel like it's not enough.

It should not be a problem for Archie and Kahina to also have their outposts in Cape Tralawney. In a similar fashion Nate is present in the Arctic and Archie in Embesa. They wouldn't even need to sell as much stuff as they do in the Old World. Although I think that if the quantity and quality of the good in CT was the same as in the OW, it wouldn't be all that impactful on the balance of the game.

There could also be pirates in this sector. Considering that Crown Falls is loosely based on the Rock of Gibraltar, these could be the Barbary Pirates. In the real world the two Barbary Wars took place in the first half of XIX century, so it would fit the timeframe perfectly. That would also create another opportunity for a reference to Anno 1404, the leader could be a descendant of Hassan ben Sahid.

To balance the gameplay and also make it a bit more realistic the pirates could appear after the quest for the Eagle is finished. The player wouldn't have to struggle against them right away and it wouldn't look silly for the La Corona's navy to be sailing around and ignoring the pirates.

Before their appearance there could be an empty island, an unsettleable rock, which would later be colonised by the pirates.

    What do you think?

Why? Red tiles in the sea

Why? Red tiles in the sea

Hi. As you can see in the picture, I am trying to place a loading dock but it gets blocked by the red squares in the sea.

My understanding is that it is because placing the far right dock will prevent the fishers from reaching the sea. However, you can see open/free tiles on the very far right of the beach, which means the fishers can still use those to reach the sea.

Is the game AI unable to think that far or am I wrong? What is the reason then?

    Thank you.
