    Hi all! After spending far too much time while buying items from our dear flatulent friend Archibald Blake but getting frustrated that all of the books looked the same, I decided to create a mod to give some variety to the icons, and ended up creating new art (based on the fantastic art by the devs) for all 120 base game 'books and decrees', and it is finally done and I've uploaded it to the nexusmods mod portal.

    Installing this mod will replace the icons for 120 book & decree items with new unique art:

    There are lots of mods which attempt to make the game easier, or add new buildings/etc, but this one is purely cosmetic and as such is completely safe to use on existing and new save games, and also safe to remove (the icons will just go back to the game default if you remove this mod).

    I've also published a quick mod to change the player colours to a new palette of colourful pastels that the game uses which you can grab at https://www.nexusmods.com/anno1800/mods/124 if you want your game to be a little more colourful (also completely safe to add and remove from existing save games!)

    I loved this and thought maybe for future anno we'd have interconnected islands with movable bridges!

    Museums, Zoos and such

    Here is the main cluster of cultural buildings in my capital. The largest Zoo is in a different part of the city, but some of the animals are here as well.

    I'm aware that this isn't as pretty as some of the wonders the beauty builders create, but personally I like it. I believe that it has a decent balance of aesthetics and space-efficiency. The Palace is basically a fancy fence. ;-)

    Future ANNO games - alternative "islands" ideas

    I just thought how cool it would be to take the "islands in the ocean" gameplay and adapt it into a different aesthetic, that would basically allow the same gameplay loop, but with different visual theme.
    - Hinterlands. The "ocean" is untamed rough wildlands, the "islands" are the flat clearings and the "ships" are travelling merchants, soldier patrols, rangers etc.

    - Sahara. The "ocean" is the desert dunes, the "islands" are oasis settlements and the "ships" are caravans

    - Andes. The "ocean" are mountain passes between the "islands" of flat outcrops.

    All of these could be used as settings for early historical games, as well as for far future "colonization of alien worlds" theme. Just a cool idea.

    How do you protect your trade routes?

    Something happened, I have like 20 or so trade routes and Willie declared war on me (had literally 0 defences at Investor level lol)

    As you can imagine, my 20 or so trade routes are no more. So to my question.. do you protect your trade routes with other ships, and if so, how many / what ships do you use?
