NPC session colonization and it's prohibition

    Posted: 08 Apr 2022 07:03 AM PDT

Hey guys, I would like to ask, if there is mod for download (or maybe way to modify game file) which prohibits NPC's of higher difficulties to colonize Enbesa and New World. I know one star NPC's won't do it unless I personally unlock the sessions, but I like to play against more aggressive NPC's and I really lack in my expedition management. Thanks for answering.

I'm looking for somebody to play Anno with...

    Posted: 07 Apr 2022 09:57 PM PDT

Not necessarily a specific one of the lot, though obviously not 2205 (for so many reasons), but 2070 and 1800 are of particular interest to me. Especially 1800. I tend to prefer slower and more deliberate gaming when it comes to the Anno series; my (solo) sessions usually last for no less than 4 hours, and can easily run up to 12 hours long.

I have ZERO interest in any PvP-style play of ANY kind. If I wanted to dabble in that shitshow, I'd rather just play Company of Heroes 2 or something. So we'd either play as a team or in a co-op setting.

I'm in the GMT/UTC+1 time-zone. I have no real job or anything that takes me away from home, so... my schedule's pretty open. I'm also not averse to playing with someone from like, Asia or America, or whatever, as long as they're a cool dude/dudette/whatever-the-"thing"-version-of-dude-would-be. And of course if they can play at the same time as I do, obviously.

Voice comms would obviously be preferred. Mandatory, actually. I hate having to stop everything I'm doing in a game just to type out a chapter of Ulysses for whoever I'm playing with. Such a damn pace-killer! Obviously, in-game VOIP isn't really an option since that's only available in 1800 (and it's shite), so Discord's preferable.

I'm pretty flexible overall about who I'm playing with skill-wise; I can teach you stuff if you're a noob, or co-operate and such with someone closer to my own level of expertise (not to brag or anything, but I've been playing Anno games for over 10 years now, so I'm hoping I've learned enough not to be a noob myself lol)

Anyhoo. Shoot me a message or drop me a comment if you wanna discuss playing with me, yeah?

(PS: I'd prefer to play with someone who has the expansions/DLCs for whichever game we play. "Vanilla" Anno is pretty damn dull imo.)

Game freezes and stutters all of the sudden

    Posted: 08 Apr 2022 12:41 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I have played Anno for a few months a while back (I'd say 6 months ago). Haven't touched the game since.

Today, I wanted to get back to playing but all of the sudden the game is unplayable. As soon as I load the game everything stutters, freezes and occasionally crushes.

Menu is ok, no issues there, the problem happens as soon as I load a save.

    I tried:

    • Creating a new save from scratch
    • Playing around with graphics settings, switched from Custom to high, then to low.
    • DX11 stutters even in the menu, so I reverted back to the original setting which was set to DX12
    • Verified game files
    • Updates drivers for my GPU
    • Updated Chipset
    • Updated BIOS

I have a Ryzen 3600 and an RTX 2070 Super. I'm not sure what to do anymore.

Here's an example of how it looks in my game.

The only thing I can think of that was changed since I last played the game is that I upgraded to Windows 11, but surely a company like Ubisoft already optimized the game to run on practically the same OS?

Any help would be great :)

    Edit:

Found a weird behavior. Anytime I focus on anything other than Anno, the game works smoothly in the background. For example if I open the start menu, or click on something in my 2nd monitor.

Anno 1800: Need help with how to deal with Alonso (the last AI remaining)

    Posted: 08 Apr 2022 09:48 AM PDT

Anno 1800: Need help with how to deal with Alonso (the last AI remaining)

Let me first give an overview of where I am in the game right now. I am a player returning to the Anno after 1-2 years. I have season 1 and season 2 DLCs and recently bought season 3. I started playing my old saved game and started to understand what I did before (Understanding routes and expansion with regard to islands). I have seasons 1 and 2 activated in this save. I remember having a higher difficulty level and have reached the mid to end game probably (Because I have investers all ready, this is the sandbox mode). With 36,000 population in total and Investers being the highest tier of people. I have around 3000 Investers on my main Island in the old world. I have Alonso Graves, Madam Hunt and I forgot who was the other AI. I remember that I managed to defeat Ms. Hunt at the beginning of the game because she was constantly bugging me. Alonso managed to defeat the other AI. Now I have Alonso only and two pirates.

Here is where I need advice from fellow players. I do not understand at which point Alonso has become so powerful in terms of the military. I am attaching the image here as well. I am at peace with pirates and frequently pay them so that they don't disturb me. I also have trade rights with Alonso. Alonso has never disturbed me from the beginning. We were never at war. I am too afraid now of Alonso since he has a huge advantage over me military-wise. He frequently tries to buy shares of my crown falls (Max. population tier there is Engineers) and I instantly buy it back. The problem is he has the majority of islands (8 out of 10) in the New World and I only have two. Similarly, I have more islands in the old world (9 out of 12). So far it did not bother me that much. But since I have started growing my crown falls population I am not able to survive on only two islands in the new world. I am too afraid to start a war since I am too far behind him and I am too afraid to buy the shares of his islands (he might go to war with me if I do so). So, I have started to build more Battlecruiser and Monitors (So far I have only 3 BC and 2 Monitors). What should I do? Should I be ready for his random attack (Since he is known for the surprise element)? Should I start buying shares of his islands? Should I slowly increase my military presence to retaliate or to attack?

Influence is a huge problem for me so buying shares could be a bit difficult (If advised I can remove a bunch of modules off of my Museum and Zoo). I am too afraid to expand that I have not even clicked on my Land of Lions and The Passage quests (My captains are waiting for me to respond). I might have made mistake in enabling all in this save. I am in general peace-loving gamer so even if I have AI I would generally not start a war if it is not absolutely necessary. Now should I restart my game and start all over again or there is something that can be done?

    New World Flavor ?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2022 09:38 AM PDT

Ok I thought I'd bring it to people's attention (perhaps even the Devs), a little detail I noticed about the New World that bothers me.

I love all the little models and animations of the people, but I notice when you pass over the city you hear audio lines spoken from people from the Old World (british voices) which sticks out like a sore thumb for me and breaks immersion. So if they could record new lines for New World people completely, it would be much appreciated.

Also! If they could add distinct versions of both the firehouse and police station (different art and people models) that would better suit the New World. The ones used, again, I feel are out of place. Hopefully the Devs can make these small changes during this new season :)

    Vanity Screen Unlock Problems

    Posted: 08 Apr 2022 06:31 AM PDT

So I'm trying to get the vanity screen for the furniture store and the unlock condition is obviously have some engineer skyscrapers and have a furniture store near them producing bankers lamps, I did that on both crownfalls and the old world and Donald still wouldn't give me the "tasks", I even tried the eastern jungle set in an old world zoo and it still didn't give me the quest, what can I do to get the vanity screen and am I doing something wrong?

DevBlog: The “Seasons of Silver” scenario

    Posted: 07 Apr 2022 11:14 AM PDT

    A Question for the Devs

    Posted: 07 Apr 2022 08:13 AM PDT

So I am in love with this game to the point that I have been making the different recipes that are in restaurants, cafes, and bars of the Tourist Season DLC to feel that deeper immersion into the game.

While I see where most of the ingame recipes are inspired from real life ones, there is one I am not sure of.

    Lobster Cheminée

The picture fir this dish in game looks like just a boiled lobster on top of some tobacco leaves but when I google it, it comes up with recipes for lobster thermidor and none that are specifically for Lobster Cheminée.

If the devs don't mind, would they be willing to share what real life recipe inspired the Lobster Cheminée in game?

    Eden Burning island layout?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2022 08:22 AM PDT

Hi all. Does anyone know whether the grid map for the island in the Eden Burning scenario has been mapped out and is available to look at. I am looking to tackle the scenario again but would like to plan out my town in advance.

    Thanks!
