Anno 1800 doesn't need a cathedral (at least not that desperately)

    Posted: 01 May 2020 06:40 PM PDT

I know this is probably the most unpopular opinion someone could have, but I sincerely believe that a cathedral does not really fit the time nor the theme of 1800. I understand why people want it and agree that it looks awesome as a center of the city, but almost all cathedrals were build in the later middle ages (or at least started). Anno 1800 is supposed to play around 1890, at that time people were already more obsessed with building skyscrapers than churches. We already got a cathedral in 1404 and that is where it fits perfectly, for 1800 they wanted to go for a more technical wonder style and I think we should embrace that rather than longing for what we got in the past. The Eiffel Tower and the statue of liberty were built around that time and I think if they should add another monument (which I am afraid they won't btw) they should go for a large steel structure or a skyscraper. Ultimately, if you want the cathedral you can still get the 1404 one as a mod. However feel free to disagree (and I know most of you will, cathedrals do look awesome afterall)

    Trouble with Oil Tankers

    Posted: 02 May 2020 11:49 AM PDT

Does anyone else have an issue with Oil Tankers, where they just won't pick up oil?

I have an island in the New World, that at any given point, is holding about ~10,000 tons of Oil. I have 5 tankers assigned to a route to bring the oil to Crown Falls, but I think only 2 are actually doing it. I've watched tankers get to the oil harbor, do the loading animation, load nothing, then leave with nothing. They get to Crown Falls, unload nothing, then repeat. Some tankers seem to work, most don't.

I've tried using the oil pier mod, but it didn't help so I uninstalled it. Creating an oil route within the same session, (i.e. an island with oil in Cape Trelawney to Crown Falls) works fine.

    Any advice?

    Envoy licenses?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 06:17 AM PDT

I'm relatively new to anno 1404 and I'm already spreadsheeting. So there's something I don't quite understand, which is the envoys' contribution to noble titles.

A wiki said that the total number of noble titles is equal to:

0.4*the number of patrician houses + the number of envoys/110

, where that factor of 110 is influenced by the attainment you can buy.

So does that mean envoys on that island? Or envoys worldwide? It seems strange if envoys on another island could contribute to your noblemen on this island, but it also seems strange to build oriental houses on your occidental island just to get some more noble titles. I'd think you'd get more bang for your buck by just building more peasant houses then.

Edit: Oh oops. There's a questions superthread. Should I delete this and repeat the qeustion there?

Adding Sunken Treasures to a saved game after originally not choosing to?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 09:03 AM PDT

I didn't know any better, so I just started a vanilla game after purchasing the complete game, and didn't activate any of the DLC even though they were included. Can I add Sunken Treasure now?

Which settings do I need to decrease to get way more FPS without turning the graphics noticeably worse ?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 08:48 AM PDT

    Hello,

my setting are all on MAX but its not really enjoyable like that. I got 30-50 fps all the time. Which settings, when turned lower, give me the biggest FPS increase ?

    I really want an alltime 60+ - / 100 fps if possible.

    Thank you :)

What is considered to be a "Competitive Time" to reach new world?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 08:37 AM PDT

i ask because i'm trying to figure out if i can get my time to new world to be at least 45 minutes. I know if i find Archibald, Eli and my hops island fast enough that i can normally just about hit artisans in 50 minutes if i skip building the brick or steel industries so long as i use a minimum of 3 lumber chains. Even at that though i think i might be able to shave off even more time and maybe hit artisans in 30 minutes if i skip shipbuilding as well though... (this is all on normal difficulty btw)

    Annoholic Achievement

    Posted: 01 May 2020 08:16 PM PDT

Any tips on getting this achievement? Is there an easy way to quickly get it or do I have to spend hours upon hours building up a military to hopefully win. Or do I have to use win conditions?

    Is this weird?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 06:34 PM PDT

I use my tablet that not only has production ratios and pictures of layouts that I made with Anno Designer. Is that weird, considering how much time I put into the game?

EDIT: Someone asked for layouts, so I'll post them on a separate post for others to use in their cities. Here's the new post: https://www.reddit.com/r/anno/comments/gcafs4/some_layouts_i_made/

    Play without Items?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 04:22 PM PDT

    Good Evening Annoholiker,

to keep it short, is there any chance to prevent the 'grinding' for the best items? I started with an Island ~ 12k Population, without Items, my Income is around 2.5 k with Items 25k. I only used one townhouse and one management house, a lot of space to improve it. But i don't like the idea, to get items to have an 8x pig farm where no workers and expenses needed and a boost from 60%.

The Items story is too unrealistic for me, can it be disabled?

    Gerhard Fughs bugged?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 03:55 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

Is it possible that Gerhards Fughs is bugged/ not available through tourism?

Got 33k attractiveness on my main island, the palace with Special Guest option (right to remain act) on. Got three harbour items for more visits. Also got the woman NPC that increases the specialist guests. Made even like 15 more visitor piers on other islands with a palace outpost on each island, each island with right remain act on. Got like 100 lengandary specialists from tourism (lot of them double) but still no Fuchs. Also did all the expedition, still no luck.

Anyone else having the same problem?
