Phasing out needs is kind of brilliant. Posted: 12 Aug 2020 02:57 AM PDT Ages back I posted a chart showing the needs broken down by class and category. There's been a lot of talk for a while that maybe they could be extended to the classes so the good is bought by groups two tiers up rather than one. But for the most part the goods and services being phased out at higher tiers makes some sense.
A lot of it seems to boil down to one thing being phased out because something better quality or more convenient came along. [link] [comments]
Playing the game without AI competitors? Posted: 12 Aug 2020 03:30 PM PDT Does anyone else do this? Am I missing out on anything major if I do this? [link] [comments]
What setting/time period would you like to see in the next Anno? Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:29 AM PDT See title. Personally I think a 20th century setting that picks up after 1800 could be pretty cool. Think of how much technological progress was made - development of the automobile, air travel, computers, radio, television, health advancements like vaccines, etc. They could implement a more robust globalization theme with a greater emphasis on trade and diplomacy systems. One thing I would really like to see in Anno is different cultures for players to select with siloed production chains so depending which one you pick, certain goods are inaccessibly and require diplomacy/trade/war to attain. Anyway what would you like to see? [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Aug 2020 02:20 PM PDT Hello, is there a mod that gives you the option to take over an defeated island without having to delete every building? I know that there is a mod in spice it up, that gives you the island with all the building but leaves them there as ruins. But is there a mod out there that gives you the island with all buildings intact ? thanks :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Aug 2020 08:30 AM PDT Anyone know if there is a way to get islands besides random chance? I've played many ok islands and have no issues with it. But everyone keeps posting about islands with rivers and cool features and I was wondering if there was a way to get at them? [link] [comments]
Anyone know how to become allies with Dr. Mercier and complete his “main arc” Posted: 12 Aug 2020 03:44 PM PDT I'm trying to become allies with Dr. Mercier, and it says I have zero likely that he'll accept, even with 100 reputation with him. Also, what is his "main arc" and how do I complete it? [link] [comments]
Let's talk and post pictures about residential layouts Posted: 12 Aug 2020 02:57 PM PDT Hello Annoites, After I wrestle back my latest save file's Crown Falls from Princess Qing (*cue: "yup, that's me, you might wonder how I got here"), I'm planning to rebuild a new one. This save file is "multiplayer-coop enabled" with an eye to beauty, but of course it'll be nice to have some serious functionality as well. My previous Crown Falls used 10x10 grid quite intense. It kind of looks bad honestly. I'm here now to ask for pictures and discussion about new ways to layout residential areas and/or Crown Falls and other metropoli. What have been your most beautiful and useful layouts? It can be piecemeal units, or larger schemes. There are some layouts out there already but I generally dislike them. I prefer sensible efficiency. Therefore the ones with double the public services don't seem that effective. Generally, is it also sensible to basically put the houses almost all inside Town Halls? Even if you don't use the Egineers-for-influence palace perk, later on, it can be useful to put population increasing items into the town halls to increase your Palace Wing count. Thus, I'd argue, I want nearly all my OW dense/investor population under a town hall, which is a circle or diamond ash shape. Then comes the issue of making a layout that also fits 4x4 town halls with a road connection (for palace). I suspect either place it right at the center, or the 6x6 type grid is the most space efficient. I'm thinking of making housing in town hall bubbles, then using the areas that are outside of the bubbles to fill in public services, parks, green space, etc. Every so often, and especially on one of the crown falls island, it'll be nice to have a big park space. To break up the monotony of continual residential houses. (Sorry Anno Union, but we REALLY need more variation in housing look, yuck.) However, along with most of the housing being efficient, it would be nice to have some variations to breathe space and design into the city. My recent 10x10 grid just looks... so blocky. (Outer road usage is mathematically suspect.) 10x10 grids are highly inefficient: 100 spaces (+42 outer roads/2 approx = 21), but 81 are filled and 19 are "lost". 9x9 grids are more efficient: 81 spaces, 72 filled, 9 "lost". Yx2 rows are most efficient, losing basically 0 space. However, there may be an upper limit to Y to avoid complicated outbreaks. For lower-class, that's definitely around 4 or 5. For investors.... not sure. Anyone know? HAs anyone tried 8x2, 10x2 giant rows of investors? do they get sick/destroy public service ranges due to lack of roads or have other problems? 5x2s seem to be very efficient, and keep outbreaks to a minimum with reasonable road connectivity. Also allows for many different public services to be slotted in. I've used pinwheel 5x2s around a town hall. And it also provides places for public services in the gaps. I've seen some people use giant Yx1 with trees and promenades also. A startling effect. Not as efficient, but certainly breaks up the monotony. I've seen giant 9x9 configurations where the first center 4 9x9s are used for public services, then the other edges of the configuration blends into like 3 3x2s [link] [comments]

I'm having a hell of a time finding the max income for residences. Posted: 11 Aug 2020 11:59 PM PDT When all needs are met, a farmer residence provides +10 coins per tick, right? What are the max income for other tiers and types of residences if all needs are met? Is there a site that breaks down how each need adds to income? [link] [comments]
Won't be buying the new cosmetic DLC and here is why Posted: 11 Aug 2020 09:51 PM PDT Just one opinion among many, I don't have delusion about how not important my opinion is within the Anno crowd. But hey, this is a discussion forum and not everything is rosy in Anno world! You can have 3 kinds of contents for Anno (or many games): Cosmetic Tall Wide The new DLC is a cosmetic DLC. The Land of Lions upcoming DLC will mainly be a Tall DLC. i.e. it adds content that mostly prolong the game and ask for several more or less complex conditions before coming into your game. You could very well win before it or even not bother playing with the new land , exactly as Cape Trelawney. And then there are 'Wide' DLCs. This is what I would like to see in Anno. Additional content that diversify from the start the gameplay and change it in a significant way from the get go. Examples would be having land armies for example, or submarines or planes (the latter two are obv can't be obtained from the very start, but still, they can be introduced fairly early and will change completely the face of the game once in it) or more opponents, each being tweakable over the 3 difficulty levels... So my regret. That's nice for people desiring more cosmetics to get their DLC with ferris wheel and mini games. But I don't have a big interest into this kind of stuff, and I felt I might not be alone here. [link] [comments]

How to fix broken /incomplete multimonitor support in Anno 1701 HE Posted: 11 Aug 2020 12:02 PM PDT Hello, As some of you might have found out, multi-monitor mode is incomplete and broken. If you select compact UI mode, which would result in the middle of 3 screens to have the UI, the screen is instead put at the left, not the center monitor. This can be fixed by editing the game's Engine.ini file. In case of a 5760x1080 setup modify the following lines: The left anchor defines where the left UI elements are put offseted from the left (in pixels), the right anchor does the same for the right side of the UI. The center defineswhere the center UI elements are put. For whatever reason Ubisoft didn't bother to actually make these options visible ingame, since they messed it up and the game's menu glitches out majorly if you set these settings. However, in game it works perfectly. I will test this in Anno 1404 as well. Edit: doesn't work in 1404 sadly [link] [comments] |
