Guys I know this is a very stupid question, but I am new to anno, I have started playing anno 1800. My question is : When I have selected an option, say for example road, after building it how to bring back the cursor?

    New Annoholic

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 10:39 AM PDT

So, I'm a new annoholic. At the moment, I'm playing sandbox until my new PC arrives and I'll start the campaign. But my question is, how do you guys build these economic powerhouses with plus 150k or so income?!

I struggle, and currently sit at around plus 1k income. I know population creates wealth, but that requires more production which inturn creates more expense. Its a nasty cycle indeed!

    AI Relationships with other AIs

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 08:33 AM PDT

So I just did a quest for Margaret Hunt and it came with a bonus for Anne Harlow's reputation as well. Is there more relationships between AI? It doesn't have to be exactly like this, I'm also wondering if there's any hostile relationship between one AI and another. I remember vaguely in Anno 1404 Venice that the Hard AI Baroness dislike the Medium AI Helena and at one point even declared war on her. Is there such relations in this one too?

    How to woodcut

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 02:41 AM PDT

    How to woodcut

Morning guys! So I've got a small island here from which I ship out some logs to my production island. Right now I've got 3 items in the Trade union that boosts forest density enough to allow for 14 lumberjack's huts running at around 100%. In total, the setup below gives me just over 150 logs/minute, which is great. Palace buff is currently a humble 10%, and its configured to provide electricity boost for the mines that are also on the island (sadly the electricity boost doesnt affect the woodcutters, as they are not affected by electricity).

I'd love some input on if this setup can be further improved to provide more than 150 logs/minute. For specialists, I'm using Ursula Green, Teutonic Seceteurs and a Druid's Sickle. Thanks in advance!

    Produce or buy Items

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 02:15 PM PDT

I am trying to produce a certain item in bulk and buy it too, but the process of producing and buying it manually is time consuming and boring. Can anyone tell me if there is a mod or bot, to produce or buy the item more quickly?

Anno 1800 has amazing gameplay but feels like it shouldn't be out of alpha. Terrible UI and mechanics make it not citybuilding but babysitting game. My thoughts on the game.

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 08:01 AM PDT

The game felt amazing. Slightly confused at the beginning but fine, I ignored it and let it be. Developed new stuff, explored, expanded and learned things on my way there. Until I got to engineers. And at the point I had like two town-halls of investors it got worse. Conquering all islands on my first world made it a terrible experience for me. I didn't get to build on all of them and I already don't feel like playing the game anymore.

So what went wrong? I got tired of babysitting instead of building. I said fuck it, I'm not gonna put multiple trade routes for each island. Set up one huge route with all islands in it, cargo ships with white flag item which prevents the ship from getting attacked (another huge PITA when I was conquering islands). 21 islands in one route, fetching 6 construction materials from the main island and distributing to each. I click accept and BAM! Unexpected DirectX error. At this point I sighed and thought I have enough. I don't feel like opening the game at all anymore. WHY?

    • can't move multiple buildings at the same time
    • can't enable "show grid all the time" mode
    • can't enable "display resource icon on buildings" mode
    • can't enable "ghost mode" where you can move buildings on top of other buildings (they are inactive), so you don't have to remove residences and upgrade them again when you are out of space or you can shuffle buildings in harbor without actually removing them
    • multiple missing filter/select elements, ie. I can show only idle/on route/patrolling ships but I can't show only military or only cargo ships
    • can't just create trading ships and select them as "flexible" where game uses all flexible ships to actually use them when needed - sometimes you send ships and they bring back 0 resources, sometimes the resources overfill and production is wasted/stopped (something like "when you reach at least X resources, call for ship to pick it up" would be a fuckton better than adjusting things on your own AND the game could at this point use production tab to calculate how many ships are in demand and how many you have)
    • moving items between islands is PITA, should be some kind of "right hand/slave" ships that you can command (ie. go to X, fetch A and B, come back to island Y / go to NPC X, buy A and B, bring back to island Y) so you don't have to babysit ship
    • poor UI, on ultrawide screen you should expect the game to show you all the items/ships in one window but no, you can see only 5-10 and have to scroll, especially painful for goods - talking about them, all pop-ups with goods/items should have built-in search textbox similar to trading routes
    • clunky ships management ie. can't save patrol route and reuse later on, can't reliably merge ship groups, can't set shipyard to "spit out" ships into group X automatically etc

This is only a small part of all annoyances the game has to offer and I just can't remember all of them due to human nature. We can't really remember all the things at once or keep track of multiple things and the game does everything to prevent you from really building and expanding and forces you to babysitting where you have to check multiple things, defend stuff, adjust productions, adjust ships. I can't really explain it any better so I hope you get what I'm feeling when playing the game. It just lacks QoL stuff and a bit of automation.

Now, there are amazing parts that are very good in the game. I really enjoy the soundtrack that fits the game perfectly. Being able to explore and experiment on your own is nice as well, you start a game and are not told how to do something other than do X or Y. The production tab is amazingly detailed, you can select not only one but multiple islands together and can also see history of demand/production. Really solid! The graphics are amazing and cities feel very alive. Constant random events like visitors/festivals make it even better!

Do you think the RTS part of the game and "babysitting" makes it cool and fun or a nuisance? I found campaign and expanding really fun (or actually looking at the results) but the way to actually expand is not that fun. The game could be more automation-friendly imo. It feels very alpha and rough but could be really amazing when it gets polished. Unless I'm missing something crucial... What are your thoughts?

Extreme blurring when panning the camera

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 12:39 PM PDT

I'm getting really bad motion blur type effect that I can't seem to get rid and it is making the game almost unplayable for me. Is there a fix or could it be my 144hz monitor causing issues considering I only get around 50fps
