This is a modular city block with 100% Town Hall and electricity coverage (without palace range upgrades). Each town hall covers 124 houses, which is 8 more than this other popular layout: My investors island layout, based on town hall (100% coverage), for large flat islands. : anno (reddit.com)

You also have plenty of space for restaurants, services and decorations.

    Manage production lines

    Posted: 24 Aug 2021 08:53 AM PDT

I've played both Anno 1404 and 2070 before Anno 1800 and still find this game overwhelming. I don't even have any of the DLCs lol. But my question is this: How do you guys manage/keep track of various production lines? I like to build only as much as I need, so that means I'm not building 100% efficient steel chain for example. I'll typically put one of each building in the chain and add more when I need them. But when I get to engineers and multiple islands, there's just too many things to track and too many goods shipping across multiple islands.

Example 1: I gradually moved my weapons and steel building to a second island. That island has it's own fish, clothes, and sausages. But bread and beer is still coming in from my main island. No potato, so schnapps is coming from island 3. How do you setup ships/production? Bring everything to on island and then ship out or just setup routes as and when you need them?

Example 2: I reached engineers on my main island, now building concrete. However, main island does not have copper or limestone or zinc. I have it on island 2. Glass is on my main island. So I'm currently shipping limestone from island 2 to main island where I make concrete. Then I make brass on island 2, ship it to main island to make spectacles. Is there a better way to manage the shipping/production complexity?

I do use the statistics screen but it's still hard to track what good is made where, which workforce, which ships on what routes etc. Do I just get a notebook/excel sheet and write stuff down?! Any and all tips appreciated, even if it seems obvious to everyone!

Final question: If I do build 100% efficient chains, where do I dump the excess goods? I have to keep pausing chains when output storage is full and lose track of when to turn them on again.
